So happy to share that @dimitrafimi.bsky.social and I have submitted this project to the publisher.

I am very excited for the pieces in this volume to get into circulation because our authors worked diligently and put together some amazing chapters!
Submitted today! Following a few years of rigorous peer-review and working with my co-editor @lukebshelton.bsky.social and many Tolkienists!
- 44 chapters
- 46 Tolkien scholars globally
- over 280K words overall
Still tons of work to do as proofs arrive, but feels like a moment to celebrate. ☺️

Friends with Fantasy: Logical or Illogical World Building?
Briana and Krysta at Pages Unbound are hosting a fantasy discussion meme this year called Fantasy with Friends. Since fantasy is my favorite genre, I thought it would be fun to take part. This week, their question is: What do you think makes compelling world building in fantasy? Does the world building have to be detailed and logical to draw readers in, or can readers can captivated by world building even if, upon refletction, it doesn’t always make sense?

Somehow I'm only reading the full text of On Fairy Stories for the first time. If there's any other essays by great figures of fantasy people think are fantastic reading, throw them at me. I feel that Le Guin in particularly has a bunch of great ones but I don't know which ones are which.
