I'm biased but I'm quite proud of these booklists... Some of my absolute favourites of the last few years... #RightsRespectingReads
He also includes free Canva templates for his booklists & posters - ready to be adapted to other settings.

What books would you add to these lists?
I wrote a wee blog about the Rights Respecting Reads challenge that I developed in my school. It challenges our school community to read brilliant books that promote empathy and put different UNCRC articles in context.

Particular congratulations to @margaretmcdonald.bsky.social, @alastairc.com and Brian Conaghan whose books all fly off the shelves in my library after fantastic author visits. 🤩

“Reading for pleasure is a critical skill for all of us, & is vital for children & young people. Building a daily reading habit has so many benefits beyond the obvious improvements in literacy, with benefits such as fostering feelings of ease, happiness & confidence…" @fairweatherdr.bsky.social 1/2
This is so disappointing to read. But it’s also been evident this year when browsing the shelves in bookshops. Come on publishers! Inclusion and diversity cannot be trends - they are permanent principles! Books are for everyone.
🔊 Our 7th annual #ReflectingRealities report is out now! This year’s report shows a significant drop in the presence of racially minoritised characters in books published for children in 2023 in the UK.
CILIPS SLG have joined the good place. Where are our Scottish library pals at?
To be honest… all library/bookish pals are welcome… on account of us being super friendly 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 📚 👀

The sign of a great #AuthorsLive is when a single class takes out your entire (sizeable) collection of the books at the end of the session! 🤩 @ellemcnicoll.bsky.social smashed it!

I am just through the door after a busy day in Kingswinford doing school visit. Left at 8am this morning and haven't had a minute to shout about the amazing Authors Live team and Scottish Booktrust.

My episode is now live!! All about AKOS, Keedie and being a writer!

Have to say though, I met far too many librarians and teachers at YALC today who are having to fight for LGBTQ+ books in their schools. That’s here, in the UK. I’m glad they’re fighting, but they shouldn’t have to. 😕
