gameplay is often a very overlooked (by general audiences, at least) way of adding to a game's narrative and storytelling, or can itself be another way of communicating ideas/concepts to the player. which is why ludonarrative harmony is so beautiful. and deltarune just takes this concept all the way

i've always been a big proponent of the idea that games are an unique artistic medium and people need to stop judging them as glorified movies/books where "you press buttons sometimes i guess", and that 'gameplay' is not something separate but an inherent part of the artistic merit of video games

everytime I think deeper about deltarune i genuinely start to feel myself exploding because oh my god games aren't allowed to be this good. this feels illegal for a game to be this fucking well written on all fronts
