Here’s a thought. If you’re skint but you live in a house worth £2M, sell up, downsize and lead a better quality of life.

First Annual progress review for my PhD done. Into the second year. It was such a helpful process that helped me to articulate what and why I’m doing what I’m doing. #phdlife #scdtp #universityofbrighton

Nicole is so intuitive, her posts really resonate with me as a late diagnosed woman.
Them: You don't look autistic

Me: You don't see it because my autism mostly affects me. I've spent most of my life painstakingly minimizing the impact it has on others... so now it has no effect on you at all, but my life is indescribably more difficult and exhausting

This is ridiculous
I’m doing a PhD and I only have a C at GCSE level

Still buzzing after the success of this - there’s work to do before the next meeting.
I held the first autism advisory meeting today. A group of 5 young people and me. They were engaged and invested in my research. They gave me so much to think about. What a privilege it was to discuss ideas for data collection and research qu with them. They’ve made my PhD so much more meaningful

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Did taking paracetamol when I was pregnant make me autistic too? I didn’t find out until my kids were adults… asking for a friend 🤷‍♀️

What Ann says ⬇️ is important. Great thread
One of the extraordinary claims from the Orange Leader about autism, Tylenol and vaccines, yesterday, was that if people do as he suggests, there was no downside. "Nothing bad can happen". Just good things would happen, apparently.

Fair. I’ve left labour. Is this my new home? Possibly.
The Green Party now has 78,000 members.

Thats 10,000+ new members this month alone who want to draw the line.

I know there are so many more people who want to take a stand.

A year into my PhD and I ‘think’ I have a research question that fits with my methodology. I ‘think’ I know what I’m doing … 🤷‍♀️ #phdlife #academia

Well done Helen, I also wrote 2000 on my methodology chapter and got approved funding to get my autism advisory group going. I really hope they come up with a better name for themselves than that! A good way to go into the weekend.
Today’s #PhdSky view. Started writing methodology and ended up writing positionality. It all counts. 2000w. Then a lovely lunch and catch up with a friend and fellow PhD Student.

I have spent hours reading around philosophy in all sorts of text types. This book, that I bought for £3.50 from a secondhand online book seller has finally helped me to understand what I’m doing and why. It’s definitely not ‘word wank’ as my friend Katie calls academic writing.
