Just thought I'd mention that the House of Representatives has worked a total of 108 days this year.

I was reminiscing about the past LA days with an old 70s feral pal and we were trying to explain Chicken Boy to my husband, who taught at George Washington Law for 22 years. Some shit is so inimical to geography that you just can't begin to explain it to someone raised in a different time/place.

Here's little Broken Beak eating millet. I watch for her every day, just to make sure she's eating. Worried about her ability to feed her nestlings next spring.

Reading the bilge sent to physicians by the CDC and the FDA makes me want to pull a Sylvia Plath.

Devastating. Trump admin selling off historic public art to the highest bidder. "It is a tragic irony that murals meant to represent the contract between the government and its citizens would be sold to the highest bidder rather than preserved for posterity." www.alternet.org/trump-destro...

Painted figures haunt an empty building. A boy leaning on a pair of crutches. A father and son wandering a barren railroad track. A nuclear family at a picnic table. These poignant scenes were painted...

Consider the ramifications. Read the language in Sen. Bernie Moreno's (R-Ohio) bill to establish that citizens of the United States “must have sole and exclusive allegiance to the United States." The “Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025”.

A shame we don't have a real Supreme Court.

Poor little bird who is missing the top portion of her beak. She seems to be quite active and appears to be enjoying her sunflower seeds.

My husband got me a bird feeder cam for my birthday installed it yesterday. Big on the wish list. So many sweet little guys visiting. I saw that one particularly scrappy wren is missing his upper beak and cried when I saw his injury but he seems to be doing well. I'll try to post a video of him.

Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Our traditional holiday dinners have been, for 30 years, in Indian restaurants. Sadly, we live in an area that requires excessive driving to reach one, incompatible with our holiday consumption of champagne. This year we are making do with frozen Indian entrees from Trader Joe's. And a pecan pie.

In a nutshell:
SEN. KELLY : “They informed me of this in a tweet because this is not about the law. This is about the media cycle, and intimidation… We basically repeated the uniform code of military justice, and they're saying that's in violation of it. It's absurd. Comical.”

Stepping up!
Nobody should be denied basic health care because of an inability to pay.

At a time when the federal government is undermining public health and creating unnecessary confusion around vaccine policy, Maryland is investing, leading with science, and stepping up to make sure our people are protected.

RAISE YOUR VOICE:
Now is the time to pledge your support for banning octopus farming. Octopus farming would be an ethical and environmental disaster, but with enough public support, we can protect octopuses from a lifetime of suffering:
