Soren sitting at her desk in the pendants, the Everlasting Light shining painfully brightly through the window. She hunches over slightly, crying - tears an odd pearly white. The Exarch looking at the WoL in the Mt Gulg cutscene right after his hood comes off, a pained but kind expression on his face. Soren kneeling on the ground of the summit, a pained expression on her face as she shouts. She reaches forward towards the Exarch. Radiant blue light emanates from around her to mimic the cutscene where the light nearly overtakes the WoL.

Soren lay curled in the blanket nest she had made for herself as the sun began to set on the fourth day of celebrations at the Crystarium. Her muscles still groaned in protest from the expedition to Amaurot, but her head finally felt clear -- a haze that had so slowly crept in, ilm by ilm as the light wormed its way into her very soul -- now gone without a trace. Well -- except for the ringing silence where Ardbert's echoes once kept her company in the night, deep in feathered nightmares. Most of her missed his company; the small, childish part of her was glad for true privacy as she clutched her new mammet close and closed her eyes. Her she was, the Warrior of Darkness, of Light, savior of worlds, holding a toy of her -- Soren squeezed her eyes tighter shut and bit her lip. Her what? Rambrose's little toy G'raha Tia stared back at her, unblinking, its small features painted in a cheerful smile -- the kind she had never seen on the Exarch. A smile unweighted by many years of suffering. Upon returning from an extremely brief sojourn back to the Source to deliver letters on behalf of all the Scions -- an hour away a full missed day of celebrations, but worth it -- a piece of her had crumpled inside. Soren figured that the Exarch would find the token of endearment at least amusing, a small beacon of home, and of the love that will always burn there for him. Instead, bitter seemed to weigh out the sweet. "After all this time, it is funny to think of G'raha Tia as my own name. So long ago. Yet when you speak to me as the young man I once was, something stirs within." Soren -- V'kahzu -- had laid awake late into the night, and awoke still mulling over his words. He had so little idea that she understood in some small way, despite the years of grief between their experiences. That just as he cherished and… cared for "Soren," that too was an invention in its own right. A means to step into a role she wanted to take, and then a role that she must. 'Tis good to see you awake, G'raha. 'Tis good to be awake, my friend. The bell rang out the start of the celebrations outside, and Soren held up the mammet above her head where she lay to look at it once more. She trusted him. And she needed him to know. These were words she could at least offer him, even if her heart was full to bursting with more. The revelry continued well into the night with no sign of slowing, aided by the arrival of a large contingent of dwarves and their caravan of ale casks. Soren poured a fresh flagon of mead, pocketing a few fae pastries, and made towards her quarters amidst the chaos -- but not before giving the Exarch a meaningful look, lingering just long enough to search his eyes, and slipped away into the night. He neglected his usual kind diplomacy of conversation and followed her, his cares for stately appearances set to the side. Soren was still arranging the drinks and food on the table when he followed her through the open doors, gently closing it behind him. She turned with mirth sparkling in her eyes, gesturing for him to sit with overdramatic flair. "How kind of you to join me, great leader of the Crystarium," she chuckled. He laughed in kind, taking a bow. "Ah, but the honor is mine, mighty Warrior of Darkness." They sat… and fell silent. Soren picked at a pastry (it had been so long since food tasted normal and good), but all the words fled. "I should apologize, the company outside has far more to say I fear. The past few months keeps catching up with me earlier than I'd like." "No, not at all -- the quiet does this old man good. After all, I am… poorly adjusted to this much personal attention so unguarded." They met each other's gaze for a moment, the air heavy with the unspoken sentiment. Then silence once more. Soren sipped her mead again, pointedly staring into the ruby hue of the contents. She had always known when he was watching her.

Due to his crystallization, the seams where crystal meets flesh are extremely sensitive. As an effect of this he has frequent flare ups and pain.

For a lifetime this was all he knew.

Alisaie and Soren sit at a brightly-lit table in Musica Universalis. Alisaie laughs, as she moves from one thought to another, "...and what of the Exarch? I was of the understanding he keeps mostly to himself, but YOU seem to have coaxed him out for regular walks around the garden!" Soren responds animatedly, "All I did was mention how much I enjoyed hearing Bragi's folk tales, and not a day passed before the Exarch was knocking LITERALLY at my door to see if I would be interested in hearing more tales of Norvrandt!" The viewpoint changes to now focus on Soren, with Alisaie out of focus in the foreground, with the bar area in the background. Alisaie responds, "I would think he has more pressing matters to attend to, but I suppose she (lowers her voice) vaunted Warrior of Darkness is worth a bit of extra effort... even if it looks - and sounds - like a *date*." Soren grins and waves her hand back at Alisaie, "Hey, shush!.... she pauses, "Though now that you say it, I mean, he does have quite a nice voice, I can't help but wonder what his eyes look like under that hood - Alisaie don't look at me like that! You're thinking it too!" She devolves into soft, giggly laughter. The scene changes to the Exarch, standing in the ocular. He is holding his face, a few tears dripping from behind his cloak. "Oh, Soren..." he groans. The Exarch is looking at the Ocular portal mirror, which shows an image of Alisaie and Soren talking at the table as seen from above. He continues saying "I would give the world and more to simply lay this secret bare..."

Soren looks into the distance from where she sits, surprised. Soren, out of focus in the foreground, looks towards Lyna who is walking towards her from the center of the Crystarium plaza in front of the Ocular entrance. Soren smiles wanly at Lyna, who has joined her in sitting on the stairs. She kept her distance for a while, but knew far too well exactly what was going through Soren's mind. The Exarch was her family, after all, more than anyone else. That grief of loss, contradicted by the joy blooming in another world entirely, could not simply be erased. When Lyna finally decided to approach Soren one evening, she simply cleared her throat gently, and Soren's attention rapidly snapped away from the tower. Soren offered her but a wan smile and a pat on the stair beside her, and Lyna sighed in relief. Neither of them had the words - not yet.

Soren sitting on the steps of the crystarium with a pained expression on her face, looking upwards towards the crystal tower. While the Scions recuperated, bodies and souls intact once more, SSoren found she needed time barely afforded to her to process the torrent of emotions in her heart. That was one thing the First could still afford her - was time. A functional time pocket that she could still pop away to. Many, many nights she sat on the steps outside the Crystarium and simply gazed up at the tower. Where she knew he was still standing - and would, forever. She knew she had to take this time - to allow for the contradiction. Of both having... and not. Lyna had not taken long to notice the pattern.

The Crystal Exarch walks towards Soren's door at the Pendants. "I know her recovery has been going well, but I can't help but feel compelled to check in and ensure she is alright..." A view of the Exarch's back, gently lit by the lamp. "...and she is all I can think about, despite the work that lies ahead of me." With a trembling hand, the Exarch hesitates to knock on her door. From behind the door, a gentle rustling and muttering can be heard. The Exarch steps away, shocked - hand uncurling from being about to knock, as Soren cries out a muffled noise from inside.
