As a tree person somewhat embarrassed by my company, I would LOVE to see this!!!
A budget amendment from Alexis Mercedes Rinck asks the Office of Sustainability and the Environment to study the replacement of on-street parking spaces with trees.

FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS VOTE EXCLUSIVELY THE STRANGER BALLOT.

Vote for Clark over Smith for School Board. Clark has stuck her neck out over and over again publicly in a way that has over and over changed SPS policy. She knows the issues, has an excellent head start, and is a former SPS student.

Big news: Seattle school board member Sarah Clark comes out against a dumb district proposal to split HS lunches. Students are headed to district offices right now to protest.

Clark was also the first board member to oppose last year’s closure plan.

I’m strongly supporting her reelection!
I stand in support of students and families walking out today in protest. District administrators need to stop the split lunch proposal. Major operational changes like these need community discussion and board approval. 1/

Once again this week the Seattle Times gets a school board endorsement right, backing @joemiz.bsky.social, just days after they also correctly endorsed Sarah Clark (@sarahforschools.bsky.social). If only they'd also gotten the other seat right and endorsed @viviansong.bsky.social. But you can!
Here's who The Seattle Times editorial board recommends for Seattle School Board, District 4 | Editorial
A longtime labor organizer with a law degree, Mizrahi has the smarts, experience and tough-minded focus that Seattle families need to steward their schools.

How did the Seattle School Board lose its way?
Come election time, voters should ask Seattle School Board candidates some hard questions about the dubious "Student Outcomes Focused Governance."

This is great news. We need Vivian Song back on the school board to help provide fiscal oversight, restore public trust in SPS, stop closures, and provide high quality learning for all kids.
After resigning her seat last year following a move out of her district boundary, Vivian Song launched her campaign Tuesday to return to the Seattle School Board, seeking the District 5 (Capitol Hill) seat held by outgoing incumbent Michelle Sarju.

SO sad about neighborhood stores, and I don’t understand why the amendment to notify parents of sexual assault accusations didn’t go on the HB 1296 aside from both of these being GOP in origin. Can D’s either find a way to take credit or just let them have these? These should be easy wins.
Here are some bills that did not make it across the finish line and won't be able to advance any further this session.

-Even-year local elections
-Design review reform
-Neighborhood cafes and corner stores
-Permanent supportive & transitional housing permitting
-Civilian crisis response teams

YYEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS BRING IT ON!!!!
The House appropriations committee, working late, just gave the go-ahead to HB 1175, legalizing neighborhood cafes and corner stores in all residential neighborhoods in Washington. Next stop is the House floor.
Neighborhood Cafe Bill 2.0, with added Local Control, is getting its first hearing in the House local government committee later today. Will the changes be enough to get the Association of Washington Cities on board? Not holding my breath.

Today, many Washington cities and towns prohibit cafes and small grocers from operating on blocks zoned exclusively for homes. A bill has bipartisan support.

Woo schools, would love more pro schools city councilmembers; the city could be doing so much more to support them!
Edward Lin says he'd prioritize schools and the Families and Education Levy, a thing that actually is coming up for the council (although, again, not the land use committee, which the appointee will chair. no one has even mentioned land use so far)
