These are not controversial statements within Zen scholarship:

1. Defining compassion (Huangbo)
2. Defining what it means to help others (work)
3. Defining how empathy is expressed (precepts)

Why has Zen culture produced more records with more compassion than Christians or Buddhists or Muslims?
Feeling happier starts with kindness: Compassion tied to higher life satisfaction
People who treat others with compassion often feel more at ease themselves. This is the key finding of a new study by Majlinda Zhuniq, Dr. Friedericke Winter, and Professor Corina Aguilar-Raab from the University of Mannheim. Their study was recently published in the journal Scientific Reports.

I'm wondering if the press as an institution and reporters as individuals realize how well treated they were under Biden?

The professionalism and the respect that they experienced is completely evaporated and I wonder if they're questioning their own attitudes during his presidency.

I explain to people how the indian-Chinese tradition of Zen is not Japanese, not meditation, not Buddhist.

Searching for people who might need to hear that, I get controversy about a social media person named "Zen" dog whistle woke something.

Whatever it is I need to be doing more of that.

Translators and academics who had profited personally and professionally were reluctant to face facts and the result was stagnation in Zen scholarship.

Despite Zen being far more historical and far more interesting to the public, 100 years later there is no degree in Zen anywhere in the world.

By the end of the 1900s it was clear that Shunryu Beginner's Mind and Thich Hahn Mindfulness and Kapleau 4 Pillars had promoted an indigenous Japanese religion, knowingly misrepresenting the Indian-Chinese tradition of Zen.

The biggest misunderstanding about Zen is that koans are histroical transcripts, not riddles or paradoxes.

Studying koans helps people understand how aggressively Zen is opposed to Buddhism, to meditation, to philosophy, to the performative.

Not just that, but WHY Zen is against those things.

How do you miss a moon?
Because it is practically invisible, it is in the worst place for someone to see it, right between Uranus’s rings, moving fast and reflecting very little light, so it was normal that Voyager 2, which we cannot forget was the queen of the 80s...

"Go to the original source"

This was how Zen meditation and Zen Buddhism and zazen were all debunked.

There's a thousand years of Zen historical records and there is NO Buddhism, NO Meditation, and no Zazen enlightenment gate.

Not Ever in 1,000 years.

What those people actually mean is that there is no education for its own sake. There's just education for your career. And that's called trade school, not education.

The point to Christianity, Buddhism, Japanese Zazen and Mormonism is shelter from doubt.

Zen focuses on doubts... Because trusting your instincts is the start of public interview.

Explaining koans encourages doubt. Japanese religions pretend koans are paradox to hide from doubt.

People who can't quote Zen Masters but talk about Zen are seriously deluded.

Nobody is going to read any of these Boomer Messiahs like Thich Hahn or Alan Watts or Shunryu Beginners Mind in 1,000 years... We are still reading Zen (like Gateless's Gate) 1,000 years later.

I talk about Zen culture because I've been studying it for more than 20 years. One thing I say is that Zen is based on different ideas and norms and a different approach to language, to how language is used.

It's not that AI has challenged Academia or corrupted it.

It's corporations.

Corporations control more data than the average person realizes and more computing power than they average person realizes.

Corporations dominate data and computer power like the rich dominate political contributions.
