I finally got an EMF Explorer Badge kit by @drc3p0.bsky.social! The PCB art is beautiful, the kit is easy to assemble & it sounds amazing. I spent some time over the weekend wandering the house listening to different sources of electromagnetic frequency noise.
Demo: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYrN...
Photo of a black hexagonal printed circuit board with white artistic illustration of a UFO beaming up a person. The beam emanating from the UFO is glowing green, and the beam extends onto the actual surface the PCB is resting on. Two black cylindrical inductors are sticking out from the bottom edge of the PCB.
Also shown: a rectangular sticker with black markings and text on a holographic rainbow background, and a white sticker with description and instructions. The text on the holographic sticker read:

EMF EXPLORER BADGE

LISTEN TO THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FREQUENCIES AROUND YOU

The text on the white sticker reads:

EMF EXPLORER BADGE SOLDERING KIT Assemble your own EMF Explorer kit and tune in to the hidden world of electromagnetic frequencies that surrounds our everyday lives. Try listening to cellphones, speakers, switches, chargers, projectors, motors, and more! How many electromagnetic frequencies can you discover around you? 2 x AAA batteries and headphones required Adult supervision recommended for young students Waming! I've been playing with a new string idea, I'm a bit obsessed! 😆

I dunno, this one is about a billionaire tech bro man child willing to burn the world to stroke his own ego, stay in power, and provide shareholder value. Seems extremely relevant to me.

I do wish Jared Leto wasn't in it.

Same. I went in with the lowest possible expectations. Decided to not even try to judge it as a film, to disregard the plot, dialogue, themes, etc.
Just pretty lights, crunchy sounds, deep bass.

I just watched a two hour long Nine Inch Nails music video and VFX demo in IMAX. Was not disappointed.

Have you ever used the autocomplete hotkey in KiCAD's PCB editor? Did you even know about it?

Here's an older video of me using a belt sander at my local makerspace to remove mouse bites from a Fibonacci64 Flower PCB.

I picked up this cheap combo belt & disc sander for removing PCB tabs & mouse bites, and micro shop vac with filter bag for dust collection.
You do not want to breathe FR4 fiberglass dust, it's nasty stuff that does terrible things to your lungs.

Photo of a gloved hand holding a small purple and gold printed circuit board. The PCB has sharp points where tabs held it to the rest of the panel. The same PCB, but now with the sharp points removed. Stock photo of a small orange and black belt and disc sander on a white background. Stock photo of a small black shop vaccum with hose, filter bag, and other attachments and accessories.

Ordered the first small batch of prototype Fibonacci Infinity Tile 0 LED PCBs!
Already noticed my first mistake: I forgot to label the six capacitive touch mounting holes and output headers. 🤦‍♂️
2D render of the front of a black, roughly hexagonal PCB with a jagged outline, 200 LEDs, six copper-plated mounting holes, three sets of pin hole headers. 2D render of the back of a black, roughly hexagonal PCB with a jagged outline, six copper-plated mounting holes, three sets of pin hole headers, and the text:

Here’s the final style of Glowie we’re making! Shooting stars and flames! These fun animations draw attention without being too distracting, and their battery life is double the solid Glowies, so around 20-24 hrs on a single charge. #glowie #alpenglowie #ledjewelry #mfba2025 #makerfaire

More photos from Terra Luna by Quixotic at the Overland Park Arboretum
Photo of the large spindly colorful sculpture from the previous post, this time from directly underneath. Photo of a very large colorful metal sculpture from the side. It is a few inches thick in the middle (from this view) and tapers to wider at the edges. Light emanates from inside through slits. Photo of a large colorful lacy moire sculpture suspended in the air above, among trees. Photo of a laser projector, projecting a light blue water simulation through thick fog, amongst trees.

Terra Luna by Quixotic at the Overland Park Arboretum did not disappoint, as usual. Art, music, performers, lasers & LEDs.
vimeo.com/742747614
Photo of two performers dressed in nature fantasy costumes welcoming us in to a tunnel of large LED rings. There are people walking through the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel is a small fog-covered lake with a high-powered laser projector on the opposite end. The laser is projecting a colorful pattern of beams spread over the lake. Photo of a small pond and large tree with a colorful pattern projected onto them. Photo of a performer standing on a small hill with threes and colorful LED light poles. The trees are lit with colorful lights. The performer is dancing and holding a spinning LED display. Photo of a large colorful spindly sculpture suspended and hanging among very tall trees.
