10 Months on HRT

Ten months, and the mirror has softened—
 Blurry edges into something kinder, a reflection that exhales instead of flinches.

My skin remembers how to breathe, my voice hums at a different pitch of truth.
 Each morning, I peel away another layer of fear, and underneath, I find warmth.

There are days the world still stings— old ghosts whisper in the glass, but my pulse answers back: I’m still here.

Bones settle, curves bloom, and time folds itself around me, gentle this time.
 Every change is a small rebellion, every softness a victory.

Ten months of alchemy— of pills, 40 injections, patience and time,
I’ve learned that becoming isn’t sudden— it’s a slow sunrise.

And, the light is finally touching my face.

I do not owe the mirror of the past.
My eyes, my breath & trembling hands.
The snapshots left behind are fossils.
They do not move, they do not grow.
They do not speak my deadname.

I am the one who breathes today,
Who chooses softness, or strength.
With every small act of living.
The face I meet this morning,
Belongs to me, not to the ghost,
In the photographs from my past.

If I turn away, it is not denial.
It is care. Protection.
I am never going back;
I am carrying forward,
Step by step, into the life,
I am making mine.
