Born in Algeria on this day in 1979, Italian international centre-back Matteo Ferrari. Arriving on loan from parent club Roma in the summer of 2005, the assured defender’s outings for the Blues were restricted by injury to just 13. He returned to Italy at the end of the season.

Wishing former Toffeeman Kevin Richardson an amazing 63rd birthday, today. After winning multiple medals at EFC, Kevin enjoyed a very successful playing career with the likes of Watford, Arsenal and Aston Villa, earning England recognition.

120 years ago, today, the Toffees travelled to Molineux and came away with two points after a 5-2 win.
The season ended in Merseyside triumph, with LFC as league champions and the Blues bringing home the FA Cup trophy for the first time.

On Saturday, Gary Stevens - no, not that one; it's the son of 1960s EFC inside-forward Dennis Stevens - was over with other members of his walking football team in Marbella to watch the Toffees. He was delighted to be able to meet up again with Derek Temple and his son Philip.

Born on this day, 115 years ago, one of the most exciting players to watch in the history of EFC: Jack Coulter. The Irishman was a virtuoso on the left wing until he suffered a terrible leg break in international duty in 1935. More, here:

Sharing a birthday, today: Andy Gray & Gary Linker; in their different ways, two of the finest forwards to wear the royal blue shirt in living memory. Both had relatively short spells at EFC - Gray brought confidence, bravery & ability. Lineker brought goals in abundance.

Remembering Gary Speed, who passed away 14 years ago, today. A boyhood Blue who went on to captain his club & also represented his country with pride.

#OTD Harry Catterick was born 106 years ago in 1919, a true @everton great.

@evertonheritage.bsky.social member @robsawyer.bsky.social was the author of his excellent biography. Copies can still be found online, plus in the Everton Heritage Centre on matchdays.

Born 106 years ago, today, a genuine @evertonfc.com great: Harry Catterick.
Won promotion as manager at SWFC & landed three major trophies at EFC, playing proper School of Science football.
He passed away at Goodison Park in 1985.

Jimmy Dunn was born 125 years ago, today. A clever inside-forward signed from Hibs, "Ginger" won the league with EFC and was a cup final scorer in 1933. Here's an article about Jimmy and his family:
