Hello new followers! I wrote and published my first book as an undergrad!

The Battle of the Catalaunian Fields, the 5th century Roman Army, Huns, and Flavius Aetius were my first research interests. Thanks to @penandswordbooks.bsky.social for giving me a chance.

It's said that only 1/9th of known Byzantine manuscripts have ever been translated. Before even considering Persian, Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, etc. etc.

Again, it is worth keeping in mind when comparing the rate of discoveries that public funding for medicine and the sciences is orders of magnitude larger than for the humanities. We work slow in part because we work on a shoestring.
A pie-chart of federal research funding, using 2023 figures. The funding slices for the NIH (83%) and NSF (17%) are so large that the slices for the NEH and NEA round to 0%.

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

Found this just incredibly depressing, more than anything.

A real protest is when you chuck this sign in the garbage.

Yeah it's a mix of Burgundian fashion and heroic armor.
evanschultheis.bsky.social
It's certainly alla Heroica on a few figures but otherwise most of the armor is actually contemporary.

Really this misses the whole point. Games are art and art should have depth. That doesn't necessarily correlate to game length or graphics quality.

I still need to do a Stark Hyperspace War commission with you...
evanschultheis.bsky.social
Your artwork is fantastic BTW. When I'm not broke as hell I might have to have you do a commission...

BTW if you want to check out more inspiration for this era go back and look through the old 2000 WOTC Star Wars RPG. Acolyte was directly inspired by it.

This manuscript is also very interesting because it paints a much different portrait of what Ottoman soldiers looked like in this period, with lots of Western European export armor that matches the archaeology.
