been also looking at yamaplayer, it seems really well put together

was mostly working when i tried it but i couldn't get it to work on quest, then again i was also failing to get protv 2.3 to work on quest when i swapped back so i think youtube might've been being a problem.

lots of people ask me why I use protv 2.3 over 3.0 for the video players in my worlds.

it's 2am, i'm anxious, depressed and have been trying to make 3.0's "simple" overcomplicated prefab not break for 6 hours.

i think i'm just cursed. is that answer enough?

On a more personal note, I am in disbelief that I made this.

I'm literally just staring at it.

I've always looked up to creators like Artsy Glitch, WispyWoo, Zelfine, etc for their detail work and consistent quality, this feels uniquely me while being near that consistency & running twice as fast.

So, ProBuilder is far more capable than I ever thought!

Everything non-natural was modelled with it then every texture was drawn in Krita. If you're scared of learning VRChat worlds because you only know Unity, try it!

I have a more unique perspective on this: being on an extremely low-end machine has made me a victim in this scenario more than others, I'm completely excluded from spaces & interactions and told "just get a better pc lmao" by both strangers & companions, it's a lot.

I was going to write an essay on this too, this video talks through every reason I preach optimization from the rooftops and more I'd never considered in such an easily understandable way.

Easy example is water in many worlds: if you see water that distorts the things underneath it, it's using a grab-pass to do that.

basically, sampling the rendered frame to add more effects on top, it's how the shaders that add blur, refraction, distortion etc onto what's behind them work, alongside screenspace effects & other stuff.

It comes with an exponential performance cost as it means re-rendering the same frame.

I am tired of grab-pass overuse on avatars and worlds, my fps suffers far too much as a result. I often have to leave my friends and find somewhere else to be because their avatars and the world they're in were both made with no care for others.

I released on my GitHub a new shader : Frosted Glass.
The shader uses the scene's environment reflection (reflection probe) to fake transparency : The shader is actually fully opaque and doesn't use any grab pass.

This frustrates me

Shelter implements 3D audio really well but gets shot down regardless because its not 2D. Devs from several world projects are trying to implement good audio upmixer solutions and the results are fantastic. Overall dont tell people to not use 3d, let people learn and build

Sure its fancy that sound is coming from directions, but hey in the meanwhile you killed the bass. And thats just about the most important part of music.

better shown in unity:
- audiolink toggle
- extra-bouncy expressions
- custom menu icons i spent way too long on

also, the ear, eye and mouth animations are all handled separately so I can loop the ear animations, animate the eyes all fancy and then have the mouth simple so it can reset when I talk
