‼️Bit ESC is NOT a precision platformer. The game is designed to be an adventure you go on with surprises and some variety sprinkled throughout rather than a challenge you need to overcome. Think more Mario than Celeste.

Bit ESC was sparked by me being burnt out but still having to stare at a computer screen all day for work. That's where the whole theme and "Break free from the system" thing come from.

Ironically, I still had to stare at a screen all day to develop the game 👀

❌ A lot of mistakes were made while making Bit ESC. Some pretty big ones too. But most can be attributed to "You don't know what you don't know". So live and learn I guess.?.

And, hey, the game's almost out so things kind of worked out in a weird clunky way.

The big one is the Godot editor itself for level design with a simple exporter script. Along with that a tool to create sprite fonts from ttfs, another for dialogue with a super simple implementation of yarn spinner and a very sloppy tool for sprite animations.

Bit ESC is a solo-dev project built on a custom engine. These are the tools that I used:
💾 Visual Studio (for development)
🕹️ Godot (for building tools)
✏️ Aseprite & Blender (for creating art)
🔉 JFXR & Audacity (for sfx)
🎵 Ableton (for music)
