Back in Kentucky after many years away. I love to read and you can find me on Litsy as @decalino and Storygraph as @encgolsen. I mostly post about my dogs, my cat, books, flowers and the creek. All photos are my own, unfiltered, unless otherwise noted.

Leave a leaf, take a leaf

QRP with a leaf! 🍁

#LeafPosting
A sidewalk imprinted with the silhouettes of fallen leaves that have been swept away, with just a few leaves in faded shades of green and brown remaining.

A few shots from this morning's walk in the park. It started raining just as Iris and I got home, so we timed it well!
#Nature #Bloomscrolling
Clouds in shades of deep blue and bright white cover the sky above dark green trees and golden brown meadow. Brushy golden brown seedheads on a giant ironweed plant. An aster flower with serrated purple petals surrounding a reddish orange center. A plant known as devil's beggarticks or tickseed sunflower, with a cluster of tiny yellow florets on a thin green stem.

I asked my local library to purchase a copy of The Intermediaries by Brandy Shillace and I'm happy to report they did it! A fascinating account of an institute that sought understanding and offered community to gay, trans and intersex people during the Weimar Republic.

This morning's sunrise, spotted through the trees while out walking Iris.
#Sunrise
Ribbons of cloud and criss-crossed contrails are illuminated by pink and orange light from the rising sun, framed by silhouettes of trees.

Where on earth did September go? Lots of interesting books this past month, even if I can't quite believe it's over.

Iris and I took an extra long walk this morning over to Waverly Park, where they are in the process of painting murals on the storm drains. The first few look great!
#Art #Nature #Dogs
Iris,a medium-sized light brown dog with white markings, sits in front of a storm drain painted with monarch butterflies. In the background, another storm drain displays a mural of a rabbit jumping in the moonlight. A storm drain painted with insects including a dragonfly, ladybug, ant and walking stick against a blue background with colorful shapes.

Just put The Big One on hold at the library. Sounds very interesting!

It was perfect weather for a long walk with Iris this morning. The creek looks beautiful after all the rain we got these past few days.
#Nature #Trees #Dogs
Iris, a medium-sized light brown dog with white markings, sniffs the breeze in front of a patch of yellow sneezeweed. A curving shady path between two bald cypress trees, their green needles just starting to turn orange. Deep blue sky and green foliage reflected in the water of the creek as it winds past a green bank and a willow tree. Sunlight filters through the trees along a curving stretch of creek, glimmering in shades of green and gold.
