Hi, Bluesky!
Figured I’d introduce myself properly. I’m the author and illustrator of To The Other Side, as well as illustrator of other books. I tuit in Spanish and English about migration, politics, books, walks, dogs, and now about being a parent.

Basically, if it’s in my brain, it comes out.

It only very nearly took me 38 years to be able to say “because I don’t want one” when the cashier asked me, yet again, why I would not let her sign me up for the store’s Loyalty card.

Big sketch deadline coming up. Normally I would stay working until late and produce my best stuff after dark.

Now, I am looking at my phone refreshing social media and trying to think of how to paint 12+ characters quicker 🥲

I should’ve read that text and measured my time more carefully…! 😂

Bluesky!!! Let me toot my little horn for the first time and share this interview - we spoke about To The Other Side, since I was lucky enough to receive the Diverse Book Award on the Picture Book category. And it was a lovely time - hope it makes ANY sense! C:

A few years ago I made a series of mini drawings of interesting Irish women (available as a print here www.ciaraioch.com/artprints/p/...) - this thread is a little information on the women featured, partly because it's useful, but mostly because I'm trying to be sustainable by recycling content.

Agree completely. They’re being seduced by dollar signs and ignoring the environmental impact entirely
I know I bang on about this but I think the fight needs to be taken to publishers on CSR grounds. Lots of publishers are signed up to agreements on forestry stewardship, the Green Book Alliance etc - AI is so terrible for the environment, it could be terrible publicity for them.
