It could be the windows; mine were open.
But the walls etc. of this apartment are very thin.
The people next door used to burn their food often, and I could smell it.
Whenever Mr. Chef upstairs is cooking, I can smell it.
Thank goodness no one smokes.

Ugh. Why do apartment walls have to be so freaking thin?
About once a week, I hear my upstairs neighbor pounding something in the kitchen (Get your minds out of the gutter.) Bang bang bang. And within minutes, my whole apartment fills with the scent of garlic. 😖

I know people don't mean anything by these questions, so I try to be tolerant most of the time. But damn, it gets irritating.
It's like my hairdresser -- every damn time she sees me, her question is "What's new and exciting?" Please.

I need to remember that one, since I hate that question. For one thing, I'm freelance and my weekends are no different than my weekdays. For another, most of my weekends are spent in front of the TV.

Certain statements baffle people and they really don't know how to respond. That's one of them. Another one of my favorites is to look someone in the eye and say with a straight face, "Shut up when you're talking to me."
