Every week I take my kid to her gymnastics class, and every week I see a bunch of 6-10 y/o girls moving their bodies for the sheer joy of it, with no thought of the calories they’re burning or the muscle groups they’re toning or the clothes they’re wearing, and every week I pray that lasts forever.

A new perimenopause low: got woken up at 5am, had to just admit defeat and get up because I knew I wasn’t getting back to sleep before my alarm. It is going to be a long day. (Yes I realise lots of people get up at 5am every day but I am very much not usually one of them!)

Our 7yo has asked for her room to be redecorated for Christmas, so over the weekend we decluttered it ready for painting etc. The only real change so far is that we moved her desk into a little nook, freeing up floor space — we really haven’t done much yet, but she was SO DELIGHTED with it already.

I’m going to try on wedding dresses tomorrow and I am weirdly anxious about it. It was NOT a good experience for me the first time around and I really want to enjoy it this time. Any tips?

Booksellers are just the absolute best, aren’t they? In an industry that sometimes feels like it’s all about ghostwritten celebrities and TikTok followers, it’s so refreshing to realise that when booksellers love a book, they can and will single-handedly make it a smash. That’s how it should be. ❤️
