Edelgard Von Hresvelg, Flame Emperor, post-bonding with a bloodthirsty red alien creature. After some research on Hubert Von Vestra's end and some support from Byleth's divine abilities, the creature now seems fireproof - a terrifying reality when one witnesses Edelgard slaughtering Agarthan combatants en masse. An eyewitness report even mentions that the Emperor, bonded to this creature (known apparently as "Carnage"), bit the head off the Agarthan leader, Thales, and consumed his lifeless corpse afterward.
If such is true, then it explains the wide berth given to the Flame Emperor by everyone except Byleth.
