There's a myth going around that young people don't develop (or die from) cancer. Three charts to change your mind:

First: prevalence of disease. If cancer didn't develop in young people, the blue area in the chart below wouldn't exist.

I sometimes have to argue with folks (including some medical professionals) that early cancer detection saves lives.

Here's breast cancer death rates before and after the introduction of the mammogram as a screening procedure in 1993.

This is IMO one of the most important charts of the past 20 years. The rise of cigarette sales paired with the rate of lung cancer deaths.

Smoking cessation saves lives. If you have a friend who still smokes cigarettes, show them this chart.

By far the biggest "intervention" to avoid dying from cancer is to detect cancer early.
