Dr. Natalie Engelbrecht ND RP: It’s often hard to recognize co-occurring OCD in autism—let alone knowing what to do to recover from or treat it.

In this article, I go into the challenges of recognizing your OCD, and what has helped me reduce it.

That’s wonderful to hear! And thanks for sharing Hedebring!
We’re excited to announce that Dr. Chris Dabbs, PhD (who is AuDHD), is now accepting clients for autism/AuDHD assessments in Alberta & Illinois.

Our diagnostic team uses DSM-5-TR criteria interpreted through 2025 research & lived experience.

Ohh wonderful! Who listed us in their resources?
I usually do, but I had no idea how to do that with three columns of text. That’s why I referred to the article where the same table can be found in text form.
I almost missed it, but today (9 September) is the first AuDHD Day!

Here I compiled some of the characteristics of autism, ADHD, and how they can come to expression combined in AuDHD.

You can find the same information in the table in the article below: embrace-autism.com/an-introduct...
Haha I don’t quite get the benefit. Why would an open sandwich not allow for playing cards?
In the Netherlands some make sandwiches with one slice of rye bread, and another slice of white bread. The rye bread is usually more square. Dutch people don’t give a fuck; it’s all sandwich to them!
Haha! Well, I learned about the concept of *open-face sandwiches*. Apparently no folds or stacked slices of bread are required to qualify as a sandwich!
If I fold just the corner, would only the corner count as a sandwich? 🤭
Haha that tracks. Hard to believe an autistic person made these sandwiches, isn’t it? 🤭
Haha fair. A more comprehensive assessment sandwich is in development. 😆

What does peanut butter neutral zone refer to?
What would you call it?

I did fold each slice so I would get some pepper with each bite. Does a folded slice of bread count as a sandwich, or does it need to be cut?
The consistency is definitely associated with autism! The willingness to experiment with additional ingredients could be ADHD as well?

I don’t know. I don’t think breakfast-based assessments will necessarily have great efficacy as a clinical practice. 😆
If you think you may benefit from a formal autism assessment, we can help!

Our international team of autistic clinicians offers online autism/AuDHD assessments worldwide.

After sharing my breakfast with our Facebook group & seeing the responses, I realized I had inadvertently made an “assessment” sandwich. 🤭

Do you resonate with the left side (autism), the right side (ADHD), or both (AuDHD)?

Take the autism/ADHD tests on our website:

The last one is great! The others may be neurodivergent experiences more broadly, but negative responses to how much we share I think is a uniquely autistic/AuDHD experience.
Oh this is a great idea! Could we potentially use these questions? And how would you like to be credited if we do use them?
I hadn’t considered that! Do you have any thoughts about how to address that? I wonder if we could develop a mini-screener that is easier to answer for those who haven’t looked deeply into autism yet, or who as you say have difficulty evaluating themselves.

Do you think you might be autistic? Here is an autism mini-screener you can use as a self-check!

Take the three tests mentioned at the bottom here:

While simultaneously feeling a bit anxious around the topic of underdiagnosis in women, not only because it’s a concern in itself, but because I feel privileged that I was diagnosed before my transition and thus have no experience with the obstacles women face with diagnoses.
That’s fair. I think the research is about the sex (assigned at birth) ratio.

But yes, as a trans woman myself, I wouldn’t count myself among the male statistics either.
