Leonard Nimoy was more than a colleague—he was a friend, an ally, and my political soulmate. Leonard played a half-human, half-Vulcan officer—a being caught between two worlds. Yet in his own life, he was perhaps the most profoundly human person I have ever known.

When President Tyler took over for the deceased President Harrison and issued one too many vetoes, Tyler's cabinet resigned and his party expelled him *while he was in office*. Then they tried to impeach him.

I'm at the library and told them their fireplace is beeping.

"Yeah it just does that, we don't know why"

They're going to hand over Greenland. Europe has limited its support for a war in its backyard driven by a foe that is many times less powerful than the US. No one is going to stop Trump from simply dumping troops into Greenland and occupying it until everyone signs the paperwork. I want to be wrong

Sat in the snow at lunch. Nothing like a good bum freeze to restore the spirit.

Trump is literally doing Hitler's two pursuits - rounding up "unwanted" people and bringing foreign lands under his control - and no one seems to be framing it this way.

I don't think there's room anymore to overreact to what Trump is doing. We are at maximum danger. We are underreacting.

We are just in wackadoodle times. Powell notifies public Trump is punishing him for not setting interest rates as Trump desired...

How do you stop an authoritarian slide? Please don't say "Democrats"...

All the flute players growing up are girls whereas what seems like a majority of the pros are men. It drives me INSANE

Reading the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich - where the author occasionally says "In my notes that night I wrote..." - makes me think we should all be keeping journals and storing them in a way they can't easily be burned or deleted.

If I were in school right now, I would be studying what genAI shows us about language and what the ethics are of working with machines. I know AI is unpopular but to me it is a fascinating science. Fix the environmental issues and I would be experimenting with it all day.

Reddit, the bathroom of the internet (not quite the toilet), marks the video NSFW. Bluesky journalists and news sources share it plain.

Remembering today that having your heart broken is a necessary step on the path to becoming fully human. Whichever heartbreak is your first, it’s probably critical that a state break your heart so that you can develop a political imagination. If this is your first, I’m sorry and also welcome.

Sometimes I fantasize about working for ICE as a covert baffle. Get that guy? Whoops! I fell into a vat of mayonnaise and took the entire tactical unit with me.

Update: While this Senate appropriations bill will not cut funding or staffing from parks, it does strip key language affirming that national parks must remain federal lands. This removes an important guardrail preventing the selloff of national parks. www.npca.org/articles/112...
Senate Rejects Devastating National Park Funding and Staffing Cuts but Leaves Door Open to Future Threats
“NPCA and park advocates across the country have been sounding the alarm on the need for park funding and staffing for months, and Congress listened." - Theresa Pierno, NPCA's President and CEO

I can't help but think the ICE murder is welcome distraction for the Trump admin given all the bad shit they've pulled the past few days.

News outlets are torn between international news and the ICE murder in Minneapolis - except for Cleveland.com, which is reporting on the Browns stadium, and Akron Beacon Journal, which is reporting on a giant rubber duck

Why is this so familiar 🤔
The Trump administration will withdraw from dozens of international organizations, including the U.N.'s population agency and the U.N. treaty that establishes international climate negotiations, as the U.S. further retreats from global cooperation.
