Don’t get me wrong, making a computer that can respond to a natural language question in a manner reminiscent of an undergrad is impressive; much like seeing a dancing bear. I’m impressed it can do it at all, but the footwork isn’t exactly Fred Astaire

It only saves you time if you take the answer it gives you at face value. And as you admit, that answer will be flat-out wrong something like a third of the time. Personally, I find it takes me *more* time than before to check that the little psycho isn’t gaslighting me every time it gives an answer

Frankly, there are lots of times when “I don’t know” is the *right* answer; if you can show me an LLM that does that accurately I’ll be happier. Shit, most of graduate school is teaching the kids how to say that, and then once they’ve admitted that, how to *figure it out*.
