Here's a write up on my situation and needs since this is a hard format to get everything out. I've been encouraged by some of the early help I've had, but I'm still terrified moving forward and putting myself out here like this.

Mutual Aid Request I'm making this as a form to explain my situation and needs that I can update and edit as needed going forward. I recently had most of my financial support unexpectedly cut off. I do have some support for the time being. Like, my rent will be paid until the end of my lease. I have community services that help me pay for my heat, which is my gas, and my electric is reduced down and set at a set price. I'm working with my case manager right now to apply for disability and other services. Finding and keeping jobs are a struggle for me because I have ADHD, autism, anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder. But also, I have degenerative disc disease, which only gets worse over time. It has caused a minor spinal cord injury, Which I've already had one spinal fusion for that left my left arm and hand, numb, clumsy and not 100% usable. it has seemed to deteriorate even worse, and I'm starting to get symptoms in my other hand and in my feet, plus also have been in a motorcycle accident, So my right wrist has screws in it, my left knee has pins in it, and then I've been to physical therapy for some other stuff going on, and then I mentioned something else that was going on to her, and she was like, yeah, that's not good, that's not supposed to be happening, you should be going to get that looked at, and I haven't even gotten there yet. So I'm just dealing with this weird crazy pain and popping it in my sternum and I have no idea why. And then lastly, after years of depression and neglect and everything, my mouth is in a pretty rough state, and I'm trying real hard to save what I have and then fix what I have, and so I just had some teeth pulled last week, had a doctor's appointment with a new dentist, and we're going to start doing some work on my teeth, some of which will be covered, but some of which will not be. So because everything happened really suddenly, I'm left scrambling to cover everything while I get a steady base to move forward fROM. Aid Needs Breakdown So here, I'm gonna break down my regular expenses that I'll need help with, and then one-time things I need help with that I can edit when things are met or needed to be added. Regular Monthly Expenses: So like I said earlier, rent and gas are taken care of. Electric: $20 Phone: $95 Internet: $125 Other regular expenses: $300 For the utilities, it's probably closer to around $200, because I've been running on paying late, so I'm paying fees. If I could get back on to being on time, they'd probably be cheaper. And then the other expenses are just everything else. Gas for my car, hygienic products, Over-the-counter medications, Bits of food that I couldn't get at the pantry. Stuff of that nature. Emergency Needs So, these are things that I need help with that are an immediate need, that will be a one-time thing just to make my life easier and not get harder. Car maintenance needs: I need a set of axles, which I can get sent to me for $133.57 I need a power steering rack and pinion $128.79 Now, I have somebody who can do the work for me, and they'll charge me a very reasonable labor rate, and they're personal friends of mine, because I don't have the ability to do the work myself like I normally would be. I'm going to guess maybe like $150. Dental: I have appointments coming up to figure stuff out and get pricing, so this will be updated later. I really appreciate you taking the time to read this, or share it or anything.

Gun control is often a reaction to the threat posed by insurrectionary blackness. Hopes to stop the Black Panthers' efforts to organize armed community self-defense were the basis for the Mulford Act, a 1967 California firearms law criminalizing the open carrying of loaded firearms and passed in explicit response to their armed neighborhood patrols. The turbulent summer of 1967, when rebellions shook Detroit and Newark, led Congress to propose new gun restrictions after armed Black people resisted the police and National Guard who were attempting to implement martial law. It was no surprise when the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 was passed, considering these events and the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. throughout the sixties (the latter two killed in the same year as the act's passage). It is arguable that each of those assassinations occurred as a result of public perceptions about each respective targeted person's relationship to Black struggles of the 1960s. The Kennedy brothers were and still often are seen as symbols of white liberal sympathy to Black civil rights, and King, of course, was a prominent movement leader. Their deaths would ultimately become part of the reasoning used in regulating firearms in a way that did not improve the lives of Black people or even make us safer. Despite the repeatedly demonstrated threat posed by armed white men, the fear of Black people and Black armed insurrection was a primary driver of gun control, not the desire to protect. Contemporary discourses about gun control cannot ignore the inherently racialized and reactionary nature of the state's attempts to regulate arms. Guns are dangerous commodities that wreak havoc around the globe every day. They bring chaos and harm to many of our neighborhoods and communities. Although we invoke historical narratives of armed Black self-defense, we cannot ignore the almost inextricable links between gun violence and domestic and intimate partner violence, most notably against women. The weapons, however, are tools, just like many of the other commodities that drive oppression and destabilization around the world, and the conversation around gun control cannot simply be limited to partisan binaries supporting or opposing the ability to access firearms. Rather, these conversations should be grounded in far wider social discussions of hegemonic masculinity, the violent nature of white political expression, centuries of anti-Black racial violence, the delegitimization of Black community self-defense against state violence, the definition of "violence" itself, the undue political influence of the National Rifle Association and the gun lobby, violence against women, and so on. The debate on whether we choose to use guns as tools for our self-defense is reasonable to have in our community, but our adversaries have already expressed lack of interest in such a dialogue or debate. While the risk of trying to engage enemies in civility is indeed a necessary part of any movement, so too is a willingness to fight if and when necessary.

I get if you don’t like guns. People with guns kill a lot of innocent people. But there’s a long and complicated history of oppressed people arming themselves because the state attacks them or abandons them to the violence of white vigilantes.
