You missed the already real consequences of the prof situation: the uni building was closed down and monitored for 2 days after threats were made, affecting classes and everyone who uses the building. And swastikas graffiti’d outside as has become a common sight at that intersection.

Yikes. How is the Canadian economy supposed to strengthen by shrinking our market even more? We have an aging population, fewer Canadians are having kids, the US is shutting its doors, and instead of making order thru economic renewal their best talking point is still ‘its the liberals’ fault’ 👀

I just read this (thelocal.to/ontario-nigh...) about declining local industries, one factor is less youth interest in this kind of work. would be interesting to hear on the flip side of this gap - are schools over-emphasizing tertiary sector emplymnt for youth? Urban-to-rural ‘reverse migration’ etc

I didn’t love this Reportor’s tut-tutting on what mostly seemed like plain-language rules around relevancy and contextual cues— it’s a disservice to readers to deny distinctions between things that in lived reality have different meanings, social roles, statuses, etc. News shouldn’t be aspirational.
