Today on Elegant complaints:

Is it just me or is every game review in video form from established media the same?

They're all presented the same, the tone, the quips and wits, the opinons - all so similar

And they all sound like an airport announcement. Heavily scripted and painfully unnatural

I second this. That's unironically how I met my gf, through gaming online, we met, and the rest is history

I've also gotten some real life friendships out of it. It's an incredible thing

And we, the players, should help driving that change and normalize to put a 7 on a game we love, because we love it despite its flaws and it's not a reflection of having but taste, but recognizing that even a flawed game can and should be loved by those it resonates with

But that perception comes from the reviews themselves. I've seen so many just rambling about annoyances and flaws just to smack a 7 on it. Or complaining about deep technical, and other, issues and still give it an 8

There needs to be a big fat reset button for game reviews

So to me Xbox scores are more in line what scores should be, but then I guess sadly for all the wrong reasons. An 8/10 should be a legit banger, which it isn't by todays video game review score metrics

Buuut that's a whole other discussion for another time

To be fair I haven't looked into it that much so if this is indeed the case then it sucks

On the other hand I'm of the opinion that video game scores are highly inflated and that it's a real problem

DK Bananza is incredible i.e but should've had an avg of like 70 given the tech issues.

Thanks, just checked it out. It doesn't really say that it impacted the score. In fact, in the little summary it isn't even mentioned

But I admit it was a kinda silly tangent. Especially when that story beat should land even more, not less, given the circumstances with Microsoft

Reviews for The Outer Worlds 2 out today. So excited! I'm gonna predixt an avg score of 87

My only worries at this point is how it runs since it's on UE5

Also why the hell is the 'advanced acess' bs not included in the $30 Game Pass Ultimate?💀
