It is common sense that refugees who have lived in Britain for a long time, and built lives here, should be able to stay.

Labour, cowering from Reform, are planning to break that principle.
Question on Monday

Is it now your principle that every Ukranian refugee in Britain should leave, must leave once it is safe + that they will all be made to leave?

Two fantastic Lib Dem results, a GAIN in Maldon and a WIN in Lewes.

Huge congratulations to the candidates, teams and volunteers who worked hard to make these excellent results possible!

Given how unpopular Starmer is this is quite a reflection on Farage and Badenoch.

Very positive review of @eddavey.libdems.org.uk new book... - the plight of carers has been a really powerful campaign that Ed has championed throughout his time as leader. Made more powerful by drawing upon his own experience to highlight the state of the care system incl family carers in the UK.
Passed over, targeted, fined – but is the magnificence of family carers finally being recognised? | John Harris
Britain’s army of unpaid support has been excluded from the political conversation. I didn’t expect to find hope in a book by a party leader, writes Guardian columnist John Harris

Six milestones, five missions, three foundations … Starmer loves a list. Here’s one for him to take to the EU-UK summit this weekend:

By far the best thread I’ve seen on the issue of Starmer’s ‘Island of Strangers’
Starmer's language was deplorable.

It was grotesquely offensive, accusing people who have brought their gifts to this country of doing "incalculable" "damage"; & politically foolish, in endorsing Farage's claims of an establishment conspiracy.

But bad analogies with Powell miss the key problem. 🧵

@jonnelledge.bsky.social ‘s newsletter is always worth reading, but this one in particular is very good
"But of course, the sudden bout of whatever-the-f*ck is not the only reason I’m not in a good place. Another is that the place I am in is Britain, where the governing party seems to have convinced itself that, “the far right is correct. Vote Labour” is in any way a winning strategy."
Things Can’t Only Get Better
This week: I have bloody well had it with the sodding Labour party. Also: an early modern way of having too many browser tabs open; and some maps dropped on other maps.

Starmer's anti-immigrant speech today wasn't just a moral and political embarrassment. It was also an intellectual embarrassment.

🚨CAR TARIFFS🚨
My 6m primer on the latest chapter in the Trump saga:
- Why some countries face paying not 25% but over 170%(!)
- Why this isn't just about where a car is made but what goes inside.
- And which car company does best out of it? You can prob guess.
