My first post here definitely has to be Tendril Theory, because when I made this in 2015 I had no idea how often it would be ripped off. Tell your friends and your enemies to tag me please 😂
“When autistic trans and nonbinary artists share their voices, they show how art and activism can work together to create meaningful change.” ❤️ Love this, from AWN’s new digital media intern Makayla
Congrats Jules!! This is great news for everyone at AWN & for the community

“In my new role as Co-Executive Director, I practice servant leadership and humility, in which the success of leadership is measured by how well the people in our community are doing.”
Shower thoughts: “ashes to ashes and dust to dust” is actually a pretty weird way to describe the cycle of life. Would make more sense to say water to water or even goo to goo. Anyway, happy Scorpio season! 💀
Yes I did see people at our local w libertarian flair. I don’t like their politics personally but one thing I’ll give them is, unlike MAGA, they have a core set of values that can’t be easily blown about by cultish devotion to a guru
Watched this tonight and it was for sure one of the best docs I’ve ever seen. I did cry… a LOT. Was not expecting body cams to be so compelling but this is an exceptional film
The best thriller of 2025 is Geeta Gandbhir's harrowing documentary THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR.

For @reverseshot.bsky.social, I spoke with Gandbhir during #NYFF63 about subverting the inherent dehumanizing of police bodycam videos to empathetically record a community.
Geeta Gandbhir
Once we committed to the body camera footage, we were determined to live in it. We wanted to build and recreate the world that this community existed in, which you couldn't do otherwise. So, it was ch...

Please look out for vets at the protests this weekend. Sometimes big crowds, yelling, and tight spaces can trigger PTSD for combat vets.
Not looking for a circ debate - but the word “early” is doing some WEIRD work here 😳
RFK JR: There are many other confirmations -- there are two studies that show children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism. It’s highly likely because they are given Tylenol
Please… give me a fire trine. And I say that as a mostly water girlie. I’ve had QUITE enough of the feels tyvm 😂
Just for the record, really looking forwards to the Aries Leo Saturn Jupiter trine next year, give me the devil I don‘t know at this point 😅
Has anybody noticed that Jupiter and Saturn station in a perfect trine in November? Should bring an intensification of that story, especially as the Sun, Venus and Mercury (rx and direct) all ping it as they pass through Scorpio.
Hell yeah.
(Idk how to add alt text to a repost but it’s two similar side by side photos of Greta Thunberg, smiling and wearing a shawl with in a fabric/pattern that looks like a keffiyeh, over a tshirt that says “autism” in flame font w a picture of a skeleton wielding two big weapons)
greta ily what an outfit
I hear someone somewhere at the back of this store loudly clapping on the 2s and 4s to “Basket Case” by Green Day and I know without a doubt that is my kid 😂
Listen one thing I live by is my food thermometer. I consider myself a fairly empathetic person but I really can’t understand why you wouldn’t use something that costs $5 at the store and consistently tells you EXACTLY when the meat is perfectly cooked. This is genius level tech
This whole thread is very good and I can relate strongly. The culture around autism had been getting so much better in recent years and I hope the regression of the current moment is short lived
Well, I wish I’d known then what I know now: that I should have given myself more time to recognize my wonderful autistic boy for who he is, rather than what people assumed autism made him. I also wish I’d been able to recognize and dismiss all that debilitating ignorance, fear, and confusion. 6/

If my writing about autism does anything, whether it be in my books, my columns or my reported stories, I hope it advances the idea that autistic people are whole human beings as they are with legitimate needs and inner lives that deserve to be told the same as other stories.
I mean come on. If this doesn't sound patently stupid to you yet, someday I'll tell you about when they claimed broccoli caused autism. Boyyyy you ain't seen nothing yet... actually you probably have, and already forgot, and will be texting me not to eat broccoli next year. 💀 The End/RIP me 😂
Fevers are KNOWN to be a significant risk to fetal development, AND, chronic/prolonged pain can elevate blood pressure, which is KNOWN to be a significant risk to fetal development, sooo... you are picking a med, PROVEN SAFE, that MOST pg people need to use at times, and cherry picking the data?..
2. Targeting something like prenatal use of acetaminophen is an absolute dummy's game: well over 50% of all pregnant people use it, becauussee NSAIDs are KNOWN to be unsafe for pregnancy, and pregnancy causes pains of various kinds, and sometimes pregnant ppl get sick and develop a fever, AND...
So, there are two things I really want people to take away from this. 1. None of this is new. At all. And it's all rooted, as was the MMR autism scare, in one scientifically bogus study + a whollllleee lot of panic by parents (and grandparents; ask me how I know) of autistic children...
In April of 2023, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a large study showing NO association between use of acetaminophen during pregnancy and autism and ADHD in children. Note that's not just no causation, NO ASSOCIATION. Period.
In December of 2022, a federal judge ruled testimony linking autism to acetaminophen inadmissible, stating "there is no generally accepted scientific conclusion that in utero exposure to acetaminophen causes either ASD or ADHD." The case is still under appeal and looks more favorable under RFK...
Another personal aside here: this was a Big Moment in the autism conspiracy world and I remembered my dad had texted me at the time to ask if I'd taken Tylenol during my pregnancies; I said definitely not, since Tylenol has NEVER worked for me in any way and thus I never use it... BUT ANYHOORP...
But in 2022, parents who'd seen the news about the consensus statement began to file lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson, makers of Tylenol, alleging they failed to warn pregnant ppl... parents of autistic children are a big topic for another day so let's stick to the Tylenol for now...
In 2021, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists issued a statement saying studies "show no clear evidence that proves a direct relationship between the prudent use of acetaminophen during any trimester and fetal development issues."
