Author, screenwriter, filmmaker, and solver of problems (usually my own, I’ll admit). Always happy to talk story with story-talkers. Always welcoming to under-represented voices, trans voices, etc. If I ran for office, my “party” would be Starfleet.

On one hand what the heck, Temu?!

On the other hand, I bet if I painted these bad boys olive green, they could walk right into an icy office, bringing something very warm to help.
Ooooooh, shit! Is THAT why?! Dang, I never knew!
The first two were easy examples. The third one was the nut. And yeah, it SEEMS correct, but gives my eyeballs the heebie-jeebies.

Usually, I can avoid it with rewriting the sentence, but assume for this that the quote is specifically important to retain. :)
Yeah, the pricing doubles each year for three years, so that's effed.

This is a computer I kinda hope to keep using for several years.

The idea of pitching a computer because of this is... irksome.
Writer question...

Assuming normal punctuation is inside a quote, like this:

I asked her "Why are you wearing that?" or

I told her "That's not electric."

How do you prefer punctuating the mixed intention?

For example:

Do you suppose she meant to say "I am the Kwisatch Haderach."?
I met someone a while back who said they could tweak certain Windows computers from "not compatible with Windows 11" to "Just kidding, compatible with Windows 11".

Is that a thing that can really be done?

I don't wanna trash my tools, man.
Today is a GOOD day to exercise!

Thank you Deathbot 9000 for the inspiration!
Oh, I wouldn’t go in THAT direction!

It makes me think about why we need excuses to punish people.
Here’s a Venn diagram. Blue represents anti-vaxxers, and yellow represents people claiming to be “pro-life”: 🟢
Too many, whether it’s percentages or raw numbers.

I used to think it was like wiping our asses after taking a shit, in that we all agree that this should be done to be a decent society, but apparently, eschewing ass-wiping is now “a thing” that some guys do to prove manliness. Ugh.
The Venn diagram’s probably nearly a circle.
Kitty nose-prints on the window. OMG, super cute!
Anti-vaxxers are stupid and gullible and instead of educating them or at least securing them away from harm, the US has embraced the idea that they are worth listening to, and as a result, the US is going to have more dead children.

Over 150 schoolchildren quarantined as US measles cases hit 33-year high
The children in South Carolina were unvaccinated, as were many of the 1,563 people infected in the US this year.

They called me crazy back at Academy, but here's the thing:

I think "Timetrap" is a super under-rated sci-fi show that takes the premise of "Fountain of Youth" and creates this crazy and-yet-makes-sense story around it, and goes in a direction I would have NEVER guessed in thousands of years.
The racists are the worst, ‘cause they are just RICH ground for “justified” bullshit.
I think that people think "I want to have an opinion, but I want it unchallenged" and so they claim it came from someone else, such as "a nurse I know ON THE INSIDE" or "these golden tablets" or "the bible" or so on.

Watch out for these people. They KNOW they are doing wrong.
I tend to think of laws as formalized agreements society makes to describe when it is acceptable to commit violence upon each other.

I recognize this as hopelessly simplistic, yet nevertheless it provides useful grist for my mill.
I used to be a pyramid power / ancient astronauts / cryptozoological / parallel universes / psychic powers guy, etc.

But then I learned how brains worked, how people thought, etc.

I will still listen to stories, and many of them are quite terrifying.

Humans sure like to tell scary stories.
