The rationing is a good idea, although people will just fly to London and then off to wherever they want to go after that. But it needs to be introduced gently, with a large quota and a time plan for tightening. So not like water charges then.
But net zero by 2050 is a total pipe dream, not only in Ireland but in any country. The amount of degrowth necessary will not willingly be accepted by people. It will happen by itself, of course, once crop failure becomes the norm. Most politicians are just not delaying the crash landing.
It's show me the money time, though: business productivity gains have to be demonstrated this year. Private users won't fund this orgy. And doing deals between AI companies can only delay the reckoning and actually make it worse...
I am curious about the fear of China. Historically, over the past few centuries, they have been victims rather than perpetrators of war. Things can change of course. Starting with Taiwan, to which they would have a stronger claim than Russia's claim on Ukraine.
Many of these are positive feedback loop. And as human co2 emission are still increasing 3 deg sooner than linear is unavoidable. And 3 will lead to more positive feed back. The only negative feedback is uncontrolled degrowth ...
