🌊 How are marine robots reshaping the way we explore our ocean planet?

🎧 Tune in to @wcai-npr.bsky.social's The Point to find out how marine robots are helping humans better understand, protect, and work within the ocean:go.whoi.edu/cai

The important thing is that we can rebuild something fully new and better, which is why facing the severity of this moment can be a source of hope rather than paralysis.

Emerging from the darkness of this era will require us to acknowledge that the previous status quo, including many institutions that may have served us well in another era, have been failing for my entire lifetime.

That’s crazy. I wonder what happened in January

When people show you who they are, believe them.

And of course JD Vance refused to condemn this.

Some of my favorite of the late Drew Struzan's movie posters (or at least the non-Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Back to the Future favorites).

...This is actually a good point. 😆🤣

Presenting the plague of frogs on Portland. And yes, I choose to believe God has a sense of humor & is laughing at this too.

There’s no better way to show how absurd a bully is than to ridicule their absurdity. Kudos to Portlanders! Stand United & keep exercising your 1A right to protest tyranny!❤️✊🏽

Since I was born in the mid-Eighties, all of mine are TNG-era onward, LOL.

Some off the top of my head include "Critical Care", (American Health Care), "The Hunted" (treatment of Veterans), "Thirty Days" and "Force of Nature" (Climate Change and Environmental Conservation), etc.

And God knows that observation is all too poignant and relevant right now in the current climate.

It's one of the reasons Trek's humanism was so influential in my formative years, why it's a foundation of my values and personal identity, and why it's remained a source of comfort through dark times.

@davidmack.bsky.social, I'm glad that you and Kirsten Beyer put that into the script (and @georgetakei.bsky.social delivered it with gravitas).

It's not just great character insight into Hikaru. It's Trek doing what it does best: using Science-Fiction as a lens to explore the contemporary world.

“When I look at Khan, I don’t see a mystery that needs to be solved. The problem with evil isn’t that we don’t understand it. It’s that the practice of it is incompatible with the peace and happiness of all other living things."

I also greatly appreciated Sulu's observation at the top of the episode while speaking with Tuvok.

In fact, I'm quote it in its entirety, because it's a great, poignant piece of dialogue and my favorite in the mini-series so far:

The introduction of alien refugees on Ceti Alpha V, however, completely upends this.

Now we have a new puzzle driving the second half. How do we get to that status quo of TWOK with this new x-factor added into the mix?

What happened -- especially now with this week's developments.
eanemanjames.bsky.social
So as I was saying last week, the twist with Delmonda and the Elborbians is actually a really clever narrative move.

With the second half of the mini-series, we know how this will inevitably end.

We know the Augments will be further decimated -- and not just Marla, but pretty much the whole cast.

It's that time of the week again!

And we're back for more fun in the Ceti Alpha Sun (which is ironic for me personally, as Los Angeles is currently overcast and rainy) with @nicholasmeyer.bsky.social, Kirsten Beyer, @davidmack.bsky.social, @finalrune.com, and the cast and crew of the SS Botany Bay.

Outside of Portland's ICE facility last night, Kenny from South Park got married to a unicorn.

The betrothed Portland couple said they decided to get hitched on site to bring some joy and fun to a dark time.

"People can be fun loving people and still protest."
