“How do you know all this?” Rey asks after another minute of tinkering, the vibrant clamor surrounding them easing a little of the fraught energy. “Isn’t fixing starfighters a little below your station?”

“I wanted to be a pilot. When I was a child.”

Her hands still. She glances up in confusion. “What?”

Kylo responds in the deadpan she now recognizes as his humor, desert-dry and growing just as familiar. “You really thought my childhood dream was to become a ‘galactic dictator,’ as some refer to me?”

“I don’t know,” she says, trying to ease her voice into a similar tone. Imagining the dark thunderstorm of a man sitting opposite her as a child with normal aspirations is bizarre, almost laughable, until she guesses their source.

Her heart twists—if not for the dictator, then for the lost boy he once was.

And seeing him in nondescript clothing against the market’s backdrop, hands steepled loosely amid the tools and spare parts atop their table, she’s never been able to picture Ben Solo so well.

Beast 🐺

It’s obvious from their overly loud conversation, what brings this group of newcomers to the tavern. A shared revulsion towards what they don’t understand. The need for liquid courage in what will ultimately be a futile endeavour.

“Don’t you worry, little lady,” one of them says to the barmaid with a wink. “We’ll keep you safe from the Boone Beast. Going hunting for it tonight.”

She gives the man a fake smile then locks eyes with the bartender across the room.

Good thing the Boone Beast will be otherwise occupied later this evening—in the bed of their shared cottage.

Flinging himself down into her lap, he heaves a contented sigh.
The heavenly feel of her fingers carding through the thick fur at his ruff causes him to melt even further into her.
"You should be out there, running in the

That earns her an incredulous snort.

"You're utterly ridiculous," Rey declares, but she doesn't stop petting him, so she can't be that annoyed.
As if he'd ever leave his pupped mate alone and vulnerable during the full moon, when there's no telling what's lurking out in those woods.

They only learned the happy news that Rey is in her first trimester a couple of days ago, and Kylo can admit it's made him a tad... clingy.
He's never been accused of being chill, but this revelation has only made him more intense, ratcheting up his anxiety whenever Rey is out of his sight.
Really, how could it not? The responsibility to protect the both of them falls on him, and he takes that duty very seriously.
Still, it won't do to have his sweet little mate upset with him.
Shifting down her body, he brushes aside the frilly hem of her nightgown. He presses his nose to her clit and laps at the gusset of her panties, the lace rough under the broad sweep of his tongue. Smug satisfaction rolls through him when she starts to squirm against his muzzle.
He'll make her come a few times just like this, then take her to bed and tie her up on his knot.
Maybe then she'll agree that it's better spend the full moon at home.
