Excellent initiative.

Having worked for a Business which paid ‘union rates’ we were constantly undercut by businesses whose employees were so poorly paid they qualified for social benefits.

Ironically the benefits were probably funded by our employer N I contributions.

By complete accident l came across a reply you posted about 5 years ago in response to an article by Julian Jessop at IEA.

Even if you apply classic economics and want to ‘balance the budget’ we need to put the 22 billion ‘hole’ into context.

This represents < 2% of Government tax ‘revenue.’ I would be delighted if l could get our family budget accurate to within +/- 2%.

I know businesses are in business to make a return for their shareholders but ripping off people in the middle of a national crisis is about as low as it gets.

My father had a similar experience.

Most people he met complimented him on his accent and asked what part of Wales he was from.

Newcastle, he replied!

Without delving into discussions on the fact the 2 are not mutually exclusive, l would remind Ms. Badenoch of M Thatcher and M Howard, both of whom were lawyers and presumably managed both roles, passably.

In that case l apologise, it was not my intention to be patronising. I had / have no knowledge of DH and had l known you were economists rather than a news service, l would not have made the suggestions.
