I still tell people that story! How the flood waters kept rising and the evil chancellor would not let us go home until the south side was a giant lake. Asshole. But my mostly plastic Saturn floated through the intersections while all the minivans and SUVs stalled out. Victory! And the next day...

Rainy Day Horsegirl: Glad I did my charity work on the farm yesterday, because today is soup. Fancy Pants trainer cancelled, despite having a huge covered arena to ride- the parking lot is a flood zone. My little Mazdarati would wash away. This is the only time in my life that I wanted a truck.

For a short time, I did dog portraits for people who liked my art. It was a positive experience but the "pet portrait" field was overrun with artists tracing photographs. I just gave up. #dog

I used to ride 5:30 to 7pm, now I ride at noon. No kids makes a huge difference...esp when I was nervous about arena traffic.

But remember how long I have been doing this- and how bad it used to look! A year ago I was leaning back during the canter, if I could even get the horse to move that fast. And oh, the saddle sores. It was made worse by the time slot being After School so the arena was filled with kids riding.

Horsegirl Monday & Tuesday: More of the same, but my lesson featured a fill-in trainer. She put me thru my paces and said I ride well, and I did not lean as much during trot circles. The mare was raring to go, so I had to Woah her down- not her usual m.o. One day I will full gallop. #horses.

Horsegirl Saturday & Sunday: This weekend was the big Gala at Volunteer Job and I worked a LOT. I had to nap both afternoons, after getting up so early and then the big fundraiser was a dinner event...and this morning was cleanup. The regular employees were all wearing dark sunglasses today. #horses
