We packed to go on a family trip with military precision, and we are packing to go home like a pack of raccoons interrupted mid-heist.

Photos from a family outing to Old Town. Sometimes it's fun to go to the places only tourists go to. One of the gift shops struck me as a quite beautiful space, but it felt like any one thing I bought would just become clutter as soon as I left the store, the spell broken.

While many of us spend this weekend feeling grateful and expressing gratitude for many things, let's not forget our most vulnerable. Harm to one of us is harm to all of us.

Join us Dec 4th as we stand in solidarity to show the country "San Diego Unites Against ICE!"

Apple cobbler. Cobbler is less work than pie and it's low key better.

Evolution of a game developer's music taste, as documented in default high scores on a series of Arkanoid clones in 1986.

Part 1: the high score names from Gigas. Boston, Queen, Gabriel, Heart, and Run DMC. Not a bad list, honestly. (1/3)

I made a video retrospective on arcade single-screen platformers. What made this genre flourish, and then fade away? How is Bubble Bobble similar to The Binding of Isaac? And where does the farting penguin come into the story? Tune in to learn all this and more!

Thanksgiving-Cyber Monday, my wallet's ignoring Target, Home Depot, & Amazon. I'm tired of corporations enabling this administration ditching DEI, allowing ICE to terrorize our communities, & chase tax breaks. Join me! #WeAintBuyingIt 🚫 app.sosha.ai/s/L3BLUA1g

Today I joined other volunteers from @cclusa.org for a lobby meeting with the office of @sarajacobs.house.gov. We had a chance to push for action on energy permitting reform. We also spoke in favor of passing the Fix Our Forests Act when when it comes back to the House.

San Diego only has perfect soup weather a few times per year. This weekend is one of those times. It's raining buckets out there. A perfect day for a new soup recipe. Red lentil and spinach soup with roasted red pepper, served with sourdough toast.

Chicago part 2! I gave two talks, attended a zillion talks, tried the unicorn blood espresso. (What did it taste like? A little more bitter than Medusa tears, a little spicier than goblin juice...)

Chicago part 1! Ate vegan Philly cheesesteak egg rolls (amazing) and a taco combo. Met lots of co-workers in person for the first time. And played shuffleboard.

WE DID IT!

I knocked a lot of doors to help get out the YES on 50 vote. So glad to see it pass by a wide margin. Tears of joy.
