I guess I would think a set based on a vintage IP would go for a lot more; but that's about as much as I would expect a reasonable human being to pay for something like this.

The important thing is to just be aware of the choices we make and why they matter/make sense to us.

There's no real right or wrong way to go about it. Some artists will study the fundamentals for years and never quite get it while others will just keep brute forcing it until things gradually click/change over time according to their needs.

...and once you become at least acquainted with said fundamentals, it's usually just a mater of tweaking things according to your desires and personal preferences.

Yeah, it's really easy to want to jump the gun trying to develop our ideal style but the reality is that pretty much all style can be traced back to the same if not similar fundamentals;...

Studying 3d shading/lighting kind of helped me start to understand rendering a little better; at least mechanically. Guilty Gear Xrd and Pokémon XY in particular helped me cement how I wanted to go about developing my shading style in my 3D works; which ultimately helped me develop my 2D art style.
