Well, a giant woman told me not to cross the Elbe, and I wish someone had said the same thing to me about Houston. Really. A lot of money but also a lot of hot damp nothing.
Surely, no society would be so barbaric as to have kings and prisons?
Then you have sufficient knowledge. Enjoy the exhibition, but be mindful, as perhaps I was insufficiently, of warning you to turn back. Perhaps also visit the USS Texas, if it has not sunk into the fetid ooze.
You have not yet been to Houston, I take it?
I know who Antonia suspects is the mastermind.
I am very much anti-thievery, but I do not agree that the Louvre jewel heist warrants "The loss is not only France’s, but the world’s." If I understand the items, this was all newly-made 19th C. bling for unstable regimes. Jewelry is not history and often not at all interesting apart from cost.
"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read." Marx
Influenced by Antonia, with her vast holdings in the East, and by the senior Claudii of the early 70s, I commend attention to the Seikos. Germanicus, Claudius, and I (modestly) have one vintage Claudio- Seiko each. Tiberius has a somewhat scandalous "Daytona" Rolex, in keeping with his proclivities.
Interesting. Seems a bit low in value-to-back pack space ratio for a looting soldier in '44-45, especially given the other stuff available in the area.
I am informed that there are a lot of ruins in Mesopotamia.
Antonia said we were going to see "Divo", and I said, "Which one?" Imagine my surprise.
EDIT: "Lexington Ave". The heady aroma of both spice and wine, and the first draft being XXVII characters over the limit made me commit reversible error.
In celebration of finding, after two months, the already-opened packet of exotic Eastern spices (ex-Kalustyan's on Third Ave in "Curry Hill") which I had secreted in Livia's ancient Maxwell House Instant jar (background, which formerly held her Claudian pie-beans), Antonia & I had the Betz wine.
Claudius does. I wish he'd pick up his fair share of the storage units.
Friends, I see your concern, having lived many decades with Antonia Augusta, Germanicus & Claudius (both COS et IMP), yet also quite sinister. Many years have I yearned to hang up or reach for a simple garment or place a serving piece (if servants are not at hand) in the correct aspect.
Thank you! The "9 a.m." presentations were a bit challenging on New York time. As were the ones over next 6 hours...
It reads like the caption to a Playboy cartoon c. 1967.
Unclear from signals as to whether Claudius is bringing in some legions from farthest Hispania tonight, so the chow wagon has been fired up, as the tabernae of Manhattan may not be able to absorb the crowd.
"9 Bells" would be a solid name, somewhat akin to the "19th Hole" (=after round drinks) at a golf club. "8 Bells" is the signal for the end of a nautical "watch", 9 bells would be a hypothetical half hour into off duty time.
Livia's distant elder Drusillian cousin, c. 1914-18. I'm stumped by insignia, as the Frenchy Preserved-Fish King of Savoy & Sardegna made Lieutenants, Majors, and Brigadier Generals show 1 star. Lieutenant by visage, very possibly Major by attrition rate & status. Better eyes say ...?
Fear not, friends! Tiberius used my nephew's confirmation name on the urn. Livilla has been in her room for some days now, according to Antonia, to whom I leave such things as a matter of habit.
Were it not for the prospect of having to dispose of all the bubblewrap after delivery, I'd be tempted.
That rig has more capacity per mile than XX cohorts. Unless you need dinosaur oil.
And a bonus before I disembark, of (the parts where I am still unsure which half is) Brooklyn (and which is) Queens.
