Geraldine Heng’s The Invention of Race in European Middle Ages is one of the most illuminating works on race. Ignore it at your peril. It’s the missing piece for construction of racialised imaginary wrt the Irish, Welsh, Jews & Muslims in Europe. And instructs us that race precedes eurocolonialism.
