I’ve been experimenting videoing with my z9 - it’s a bit shaky handholding and on a rocking boat! Holding a cell phone is much easier, but the power of the z9 is amazing.
I love watching Elderberry climb the rocks. So sure footed!

We are just about to leave Elderberry. I have loved this time editing her shots. There are a few videos still to look through and share. I hope you’ve enjoyed this series. Thanks for following!
This Look. Those Claws.
It’s rare to have a bear look up into the camera when the they are so busy eating. I loved the look on Elderberry’s face and the perfect view of her claws. I have cropped in on this photo and blurred the background to have her stand out.

It is so amazing how Elderberry blends with all the environment around her. I particularly like the shape of the coastal rocks with Elderberry walking along the edge.

Seaside barnacles harvested, Elderberry quietly moved along the shoreline still camouflaged on a rock shelf obscured by overhanging branches. Where do you think her next stop may be?

Elderberry wandered along the edge of beautiful green ocean tinted from glacial minerals. She was intent to scavenge the best barnacles from the tree branches and seemed to just hover over the water. It’s funny how watching wild animals eating is so mesmerizing. #grizzlybear #barnacles #pnw
You Are What You Eat
It’s so interesting that Elderberry blends so well with her surroundings and the barnacles she eats. She is calm now and used to us watching her.

When we first came upon Elderberry, I was amazed she was even spotted as she blended into the coastline foliage so well. She is the mist camouflaged Grizzly I have ever seen.

Goodbye Leaves

Gotta love a good fall storm where wind blows all the leaves off the trees and rain pours down. We still have power - that’s pretty surprising as windy as today was. What’s the storm like where you are?

I am excited to work with this next section of photos from my last bear trip. This is grizzly #1 - Elderberry!! The one bear I really wanted to see. She was the rock-a-bear baby from three years ago. It’s amazing to see her grown and on her own. She is the most camouflaged bear I have ever seen.
Today was the last day together with our Thursday golf foursome as winter is setting in and three of us are heading South. It’s been an awesome summer with lots of laughs, birds, an eagle, great conversations, and lots of dark chocolate. Thank you girlfriends - until next summer!! Love and hugs!
I met with photographer Mike Vandertol (@mjvabdertol) today to learn some new video tricks and programmes. It’s always fun to meet up with a fellow photographer and bounce ideas back and forth. Today’s post is an AI generated video of some of my shots of Bear number three.
Sharing one more shot of my camera stare down with Black Bear #3. I think he’s saying, “don’t mess with my barnacles”.

We soon came upon another Black Bear! Bear #3 was young and nestled in the rocks eating barnacles. This little guy never took his eyes off us while we were there. We obviously made him nervous, so didn’t stay long.

Leaving behind bear 2, we headed deeper into Knight Inlet and saw this remote fishing cabin. How long could you spend time in this isolated location? Such a gorgeous spot.

We stayed with bear two for a while as he was so fun to watch moving along the rocks. By the time he finally looked at us, I swear he was thinking, “are you still here? Enough already.” I do like the shape of the rocks in this shot, too.
What was I doing right before I got the eagle 🦅 yesterday? Whispering to 🐸 frogs. Haha. I am a firm believer in taking a few moments to always appreciate our surroundings. Linda P thanks for telling me these little guys were here!

I had another first at golf today…. I shot an eagle (which is two under par) on hole #5 on Pheasant Glen. It is a par four and I was in on my second shot from about 120 yards out. It was very fun, and I was happy to be with my Thurs gals

two was as nimble as a mountain goat on the steep coastal rocks. This bear, intent on the best bites, couldn’t care less about the rocks.

This zoomed in close up of bear #2 shows off his two coloured face and a nose scratch with his back paw. We stayed with this one for a while as he scavenged barnacles off the rocks.
Today I received the coveted Golf Referee Backpack from Geri and our Zone. I love Jacque smiling so big in the background. I want to thank all those who helped me on this Referee journey this year. I belong to the best group of Refs in the province.
I have rarely seen black bears during grizzly tours except on the drive. This trip was totally different. We saw a grand total of 8 black bears. This is bear #1. We didn’t get close enough to have a zoom shot, but just seeing it tumbling rocks on the shoreline early in the morning was fun.
On dark foggy mornings there are often hidden surprises on the ocean. This orca quietly swam by with only the sound of his blow catching our attention. This shot is in colour, but with the darkness comes out black and white. I love the moodiness of this shot.
There is nothing like the early morning barking of Stellar Sea Lions while out on the ocean. Gotta love our BC Coastlines.

In case you missed my little teaser video last night, here are the final sourdough loaves and the first cuts. Len used the electric knife to cut the bread as it’s faster. The round loaves were so large, we cut them in half. I think I have the swing of things just in time for rainy season and baking!
