This is not history. This is not Anne Frank’s attic. This is today.

I would rather live next door to someone who speaks another language than live next door to someone who doesn’t want to live near people who speak other languages. I know nothing about Person A but I know person B is a shitbird.
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do
Agree with Adams (keynote at #ASBH25) that we should always be aware of the role of money driving everything. Disagree that we can’t/don’t ever imagine better ways beyond hyperfixation on capitalism.
Thought provoking keynote by Jerome Adams for #ASBH25 abt finding where we can work together w ppl w different viewpoints….but I’d like to ask-at what point are you complicit in the harm?

Annnnd I’m in Portland for the #ASBH25 annual meeting. Speaking on ableism at the bedside and how hospital visitation policies impact disabled people.
Just watched this awesome youth and autistic led video at #PCORI2025 which provided a study update in plain language: notless.org/research/

We're in DC for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute’s annual meeting!

PCORI funds research that meaningfully includes patients, families, and caregivers as partners throughout the research process. #PCORI2025
Last session at #PCORI2025 (for me before I head to the airport) is on research WITH people with IDD. It’s been an excellent annual meeting.

I'm glad PGD and genetic testing exist as more options for disabled parents. I don't like the suggestion that using this tech is the better/best route to parenthood and there's just blatantly false info. She'd pass on her type of OI-which isn't fatal: womensagenda.com.au/latest/how-g...
How genetic testing is empowering the path to parenthood
Through IVF and genetic testing, Tayla and her husband overcame inherited conditions and found hope, choice, and their daughter Helena.

The awesome video team at the New York Times helped me make this video about the shutdown and Obamacare premiums.
Watching this year's LEND trainees present to their cohort about their disciplines. I really love the feeling of pride in our students and trainees. It's such a needed experience of having hope for our future.
There's an enormous pile (some good/some not) of research on the (assumed) stress of parenting children with disabilities. In many cases, there's more research about nondisabled parents than the kids that the research claims to want to help.

I think some reporters really need to learn about the Disabled Day of Mourning. Some parents of autistic kids despise them so much they kill them. This is how deadly ableism (and lack of social supports) can be. Our articles do not need to feed into ableism.

“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about the ongoing dangers of COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks and clean air at the UN today!
Had to read this title (on the website) a couple times: "Parents find a way...." A critical value I teach my children is we don't sit at tables we aren't wanted. Find schools where you don't have to "find a way" to be deemed worthy of an education. aleteia.org/2025/09/01/p...
