They consult HE research sometimes.

First the VC decides on a policy to supposedly cut costs or increase income based on anecdotal information and whether it weakens academic influence.

Then their cronies try to find 'HE research' supporting it.

Regardless, it is forced through and backfires.

'While researchers typically publish in academic journals and books, the authors found, higher education managers are more likely to consult practice-oriented journals, newsletters, conference inputs and social media platforms such as LinkedIn.'

flipped classrooms & the unquestioned shift toward “student-led learning” were also part of the deprofessionalization->adjunctification->mechanization program whose ultimate goal was a fully administrative university

The over-reliance on standardization as the mechanism for writing instruction really was a pretty unbeatable context to produce de-professionalized teachers okay with using AI to grade

Broken university governance is holding higher education back in Australia. Where wrongdoing occurs, who or where do staff go? Who’s holding officials to account?

Uni governing bodies have proven incapable of doing the right thing.

Thinking of setting up an institution to accredit learning in academic disciplines that move human knowledge forward in a variety of directions rather than serve as a funnel for jobs. Not sure what to call it, though. Something that attests to the broad character of its scholarly endeavours.
