“Our [Octopus Energy] CEO made headlines recently when he said Scotland could have the cheapest power in Europe if the UK moved to regional energy pricing”

Another way to get zonal pricing - 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Independence

QED 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 independence will give 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 the cheapest power in Europe

or Shetland Islands SNP 25.4% LD 50.7%
or Orkney Islands SNP 16.1%, LD 65.1%
or Caithness, Sutherland and Ross SNP 30.4% LD 43.9%

on the other hand, there are some super marginals:

Aberdeenshire West SNP 31% Tory 29.8% <- in the SNP 62 seat projection as an SNP win but could just as well go Tory
drjohnm61.bsky.social
Correct, there is no guarantee that Fife North East will go Lib Dem but the current polling is SNP 23%, Lib Dems 62.2%. With that sort of gap, then it's going to have to be a disaster of the Lib Dems not to get the seat.

Or Edinburgh North Western; SNP 19.8 Lib Dems 56.7%

The SNP is focused on achieving an improbable majority vote despite a 60% drop in membership.

They will have to heavily depend on non-member indy supporters and a possible coalition with Scottish Greens just to maintain a minority government.

All on the hope Westminster will grant a referendum.
drjohnm61.bsky.social
The SNP will get zero list seats, so it has to come from the constituency seat count. Just count the number of nailed on **non SNP** seats and work backwards, like the 3 LD seats in the Highlands and Islands that will not go SNP
drjohnm61.bsky.social
The SNP are projected to get 62 constituency seats. That results in zero list seats due to the d’Hondt handicapping. That leaves 11 constituency seats that somehow the SNP needs 3 extra for a majority. They may just scrape that three extra seats but that’s it. The other seats have huge margins
drjohnm61.bsky.social
But if 33% of SNP voters voted Scottish Greens with their second vote, then the Scottish Greens would pick up two extra seats at the cost of Reform UK Ltd -1 and the Tories -1

Two fewer unionists. But your MSP wants them to get elected and you just follow. Vote SNP 1&2 and get unionists
drjohnm61.bsky.social
57.6% short! and your MSP is telling you to vote both votes SNP!

The problem is that your MSP has no idea how this works and is probably getting their information from someone else that has no idea. Ask them to provide the evidence that it is right to vote that way in your region. Actual evidence/3
drjohnm61.bsky.social
The round 7 seat is won by Reform with 7.8% of the vote. The SNP is projected to have 28.2% of the regional vote BUT remember, divided by 11, so reduced to 2.56%. The round 7 seat delta is 7.8%-2.56%=5.24% BUT again, remeber that 11 divisor. So the SNP are only short 5.24% x 11=57.6%.

/2
drjohnm61.bsky.social
Angus is not a region but I assume its in North East Scotland.

North East Scotland is projected to win all 10 constituency seats in the region. The round 1 divisor is therefor 11. So 100,000 votes will get divided by 11 and be the equivalent of just 9,090. Absolutely zero chance of a list seat /1

Posting a breakdown of 2011 is like posting the trading results of Xerox from 20 years ago to justify buying the stock now.

Reform didn’t exist 14 years ago.
The whole voting landscape has changed.

Post the mathematical breakdown based on the polling now.
drjohnm61.bsky.social
And you have mathematical evidence of that? What region are you voting in? Happy to provide a spreadsheet to show how the seats are allocated and how the SNP don’t get any list seats.

Just like the BBC in Scotland, Laura Kuenssberg is stepping up the deliberate errors to knock The SNP. Twice she claimed the UK Gov was supplying £10bn to build warships on the Clyde. This is false. The £10bn will come from Norway after it signed a deal with BAE systems.

drjohnm61.bsky.social
So you cannot mathematically prove that, just posting something that someone stated without any facts.

Show me the maths.

Do the actual hard work and show the calculations.

Pick any region you like and extrapolate the current polling and constituent seat count per party.

I am happy to do so
drjohnm61.bsky.social
Can you mathematically show me how voting SNP 1&2 generates any liar seats in any region based on current polling. Not arm waving, but actual mathematics. Not based on historic results but based on now.

Happy to be convinced, but using evidence, not blind faith.
drjohnm61.bsky.social
Can you show me the region by region mathematical breakdown that shows how voting SNP 1&2 produces any list seats? Show how Glasgow that is expected to get all 8 constituency seats can get a list seat?

Show the mathematics please

Not historic results, facts from today’s polling

This why we should vote SNP 1 Scottish Greens 2 in 2026. Not a pitiful 6 seats majority but a stonking massive majority of 59 seats!!

Glad to see Nigel Farage has finally remembered Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform in Wales - found guilty of taking bribes from Russia.

Maybe he'll now remember how much he took from Putin's propaganda broadcaster Russia Today for all his TV appearances when he was a MEP?

Farage has given up the pretence that he barely knew Nathan Gill. He can't do otherwise, given the flood of evidence to the contrary.

Here is Gill saying he's just come from having lunch with Farage on the day that Farage resigned as UKIP leader 4 July 2016?
