Labor is negotiating the details and passage through parliament of these environmental laws with the LNP, not the Greens. That does not bode well. Without far stronger environmental laws the extinction and climate crises will get far, far worse. We all suffer, wildlife, ecosystems and people.

At least 10 attempts to get a 'climate trigger' into the EPBC Act over the past 27 years have failed

It tells us how strongly the ruling class, Labor & the Coalition have resisted explicit accountability regarding climate change impacts in GHG-intensive developments

The consequences are here

💯

We're in a number of groups

We all need the solidarity, it enables more capacity, rest when needed, a range of ages and strategies, sharing the load etc.

Nothing will beat the memories I'm sure you shared with Wally

My son named ours Bunyip, after an Indigenous creature who lives near billabongs...

RIP Wally 🙏

OMG you have my bunny (and his butt!)

So important that this work of accountability is carried out

Thankyou to Senators working on University governance in Australia 🙏

Some very interesting revelations about UniForum at Senate Estimates last night.

First, ANU exec appears to have misled the Senate by implying they gave staff access to the underlying UniForum data and methodology.

In fact, they gave staff little more than opaque scatter plots like this one👇

UniForum is a “benchmarking service” that Nous provides to universities globally.

University executives frequently invoke UniForum as an objective justification for cuts and redundancies.

This UniForum graph, for example, was a centerpiece of the case ANU’s ex-VC made to Council for Renew ANU. 👇
Image of a scatterplot graph titled, “Overall effectiveness score vs normalised cost – parts 1 & 2 services.”
Graph subtitle: “Net Satisfaction (-100 to +100), Parts 1& 2 Services 2017 – 2023”
Vertical axis is titled: “increasing effectiveness score”
Horizontal axis is titled: "increasing normalised cost for services assessed”.
Each point on the graph represents a university. ANU is highlighted in the bottom right of the graph implying that it have poor service effectiveness and high cost.

Just as an aside, if a Nobel prize winning scientist can take a vacation and put his phone on airplane mode while he does it, so can you.

He’s absolutely right. That email was not more important than his hike.

Brilliant speaker

How strong is support for the Greens there?

400 tons of fishing nets from Sweden are on their way to Ukraine—not for the sea, but to help build barriers against kamikaze drones. Cause and effect is simple: stronger netting means fewer drones reaching homes, hospitals, power plants, and bridges; more lives saved, more lights kept on. 👇
