But sometimes … one does simply conclude a study by saying more research is needed ! Especially if a systematic review / meta-analysis shows that there is a significant knowledge gap that needs addressing in order to better understand a topic of clinical importance . #NephJC

Basically, KDIGO has the same level of recommendation in both cases for RASi in patients with CKD and moderate albuminuria or measuring proteinuria and Cr for CKD diagnosis as for low-ish protein consumption in CKD. #nephjc

How about not a restrictive diet, but simply eating healthy and doing 50 minutes of exercise?

A low-cost way to reduce oxidative stress, and lowering inflammation… 😉

Protein: We restrict or just “let it go” in CKD, but we actively force protein supplementation in ESRD. Seems liked studying very mixed strategies #NephJC

Given the lack of evidence supporting dietary protein restriction (and potential ⬆️mortality), the 2024 @kdigo.org guidelines currently recommend maintaining a protein intake of 0.8 g/kg body weight per day in adults with CKD G3–G5 (level 2C). #NephJC
