Byleth show they care by guiding Dimitri. When they tell Dimitri “ya gotta face your people” it’s more firm (both options have the same outcome).

Byleth also stops Dimitri from looking back after the throne scene. They’re sad, but they know it’s necessary to move on

One coaxes the other to enjoy themselves (Dimitri inviting Byleth to eat after the first successful mission) and the other ALSO coaxes the first to enjoy themselves (Byleth inviting Dimitri to the victory celebration after Arianrhod)

Dimitri starts the game feeling too much, to the point of it quite literally driving himself insane. Byleth starts not feeling much of anything, drifting on in a dissociative state where they can’t remember much of their past when asked (courtesy of Sothis hitting the snooze button for 20+ years).

6- Both of them have demon-related nicknames (one-eyed and ashen demons), both of them have messianic larger-than-life nicknames (savior king and enlightened one). One of them has a position of authority over the other (student and teacher) but ALSO the other has authority too (prince and commoner).

But having it play on the (romantic) S support between Dimitri and Byleth instead of “A place to rest” just makes “Somewhere to belong” feel… special to them? Even if I know it’s not.
It feels as if beyond romantic feelings, they genuinely enjoy each others’ company…(Because they belong together 🥺)

4- Honestly? “Somewhere to belong”. It’s weird because that song is used in many instances in the game. It’s the song of many romantic A-supports (between characters that can have an ending together). It’s also used in platonic S supports for both male and female Byleth.

(Tangent about localized Dimitri being more bold: German S support opens with “Meine Liebe” like DANG!!! Can you call your super platonic bestie that in German??? German dimileths plz confirm???)
