🚨Fully funded PhD opportunity!🚨

Join CREWW, the University of Exeter’s world-leading research group tackling water & environmental challenges. This PhD, funded by South West Water & the Environment Agency, will explore upland valley mire restoration & its role in climate resilience.

Please share!
Deadline is next Monday 10th February, and we are looking for candidates with expertise in Hydraulic/Geomorphic numerical modelling and GIS experience. It will be based at @exeter.ac.uk, specifically in @uoe-creww.bsky.social, and will enjoy an ongoing project in arid and hyper-arid areas
There is still time to apply for a PhD on flash flooding and geomorphic changes in desert wadi systems! The PhD, through hydraulic and sediment modelling, will investigate these impulsive events, and also how nature-based solutions can be used to mitigate their effects. Apply at tinyurl.com/328mctvt

A fantastic opportunity to join us at @uoe-creww.bsky.social @exeter.ac.uk with two exciting PhD positions!
Two exciting EPSRC PhD opportunities in our group @uoe-creww.bsky.social @exeter.ac.uk . One to develop mechanistic understanding into the hydrological impacts of beaver wetlands. Another looks into modelling nature-based solutions for flash floods in deserts. See thread for further information ⬇️

Had a nice Christmas Eve walk in Monmouth today with family, and couldn’t help notice how large wood accumulated at the Monnow Bridge - just like I observed them in flume experiments! It always amazes me. Also did you know is the only remaining bridge in Britain with a gate tower on the bridge?
It’s been a honour today to attend a graduation ceremony @universityofexeter.bsky.social, for the first time on this side of the stage! So pleased to have seen our #GIS MSc students graduating - such a fantastic group of the highest academic standard. Looking forward to teach this year’s cohort!

On the train to Liverpool for #BES24 with @uoe-creww.bsky.social colleagues!

I'll be presenting Friday on the social feasibility of #wildcat #reintroduction in the south west - see you there?

I recently completed my Academic Professional Programme at @uniofexeter.bsky.social and received the Fellowship status with the (former) Higher Education Academy. I really enjoyed improving my teaching to make it as inclusive and engaging as possible. Looking forward to more challenges. Ad maiora!
I wouldn’t say very close…
At least on a district level area you would have expected more precision. I hope she didn’t get woken up! I was literally paying at the till with my phone and it was quite weird.
Just got this Government Alert on my phone (twice), yet the MetOffice warning is Amber and not Red, this can be rather confusing to people and maybe risks getting the opposite effect?
Today I really enjoyed my first ‘speed networking’ session as dissertation advisor for BSc students. Great to see a lot of interest for water quality issues and solutions in our rivers. Do you have any riverine water quality dissertations projects that students have been/are working on?
I have the privilege of working with @austerroger.bsky.social who will lead this #PhD on identifying social barriers and enablers to the use of Large Wood as a Nature-based Solution. If you are interested or you know someone who would, please share it widely!

The Bluesky page for @uoe-creww.bsky.social is currently live! We look forward to share novel research and advances in water, the environment, and eco-hydrological resilience from the people in our centre based at @uniofexeter.bsky.social. Watch this space!
We have so many #PhD positions available now, have a look at @alanputtock.bsky.social’s post below and share widely! There’s one for all #water ‘flavours’
PhDs galore! We currently have a suite of prospective Environmental Science PhD projects that would be supervised by academics in the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) at the University of Exeter. Please see thread below for full details and how to apply.
It’s great to see the before and after impact! Really nice gravel bed and (not engineered?) large wood that deposited there
Having seen first hand what doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants do, I can’t thank them enough (and can proudly say my partner is one of them, great seeing her workplace but not planning to do it often!)
