Trump is not popular and does not have a mandate. He's killing the GOP. For that, I defer to Lindsey Graham from May 2016:

"If we nominate Donald Trump, we will get destroyed. And we will deserve it."

What we’ve realized is that everything has to be written into law, and that even means not simply written into the constitution. We can’t count on Trump/Republicans to abide by norms, ethics, or anything else. They have to face prison time for everything or else they’ll just be disgustingly evil.
