I write baseball words for a living. Constantly tired and ready to retire. Here to make myself laugh.

Ohioans who, correctly, don't want to submit identification to bluesky, this may be useful:

Once again having a national conglomerate owning every newspaper in the country and not being able to figure out how to keep things local on the front freaking page of their websites is both hilarious and soul crushing.
A screenshot from the front page of the Cincinnati Enquirer that has a "shopping" section where the first story is for "Holiday gift ideas for Milwaukee Brewers fans starting under $30"

If it was good enough for Rudi Stein....

This is Brice Turang's fault. All he had to do was not get out of the way.

Will it happen again?

The full Blake Treinen experience, folks.

And 0 GIDP after tonight, too.

We all saw the play.

The Reds offense is the best in baseball

Over his last two playoff starts, Blake Snell has thrown 14 innings, allowed two hits and struck out 19. He made the Phillies (eighth in MLB in runs scored) and Brewers (third) look positively feckless. When Snell is on, there are few better. A tremendous performance in Game 1.

The coaching staff is all arguing about how there's no possible way you ground into a double play on a ball that hits the outfield wall before it hits the ground. Completely forgot about the possibility of kicking the field goal because of it.
dougdirt24.bsky.social
It doesn't really differentiate it from a fly ball double play.

It's just a different way to record two outs on a fly ball than typical when you say "he hit a fly ball that turned into a double play".

Your honor, I do not like the rules of your court.

This IS a data error because the folks at MLB who programmed things couldn't foresee a play like this happening, so there isn't an option to click a little box in their program to accurately label it. So now they are trying to tell you a lie about what happened.
dougdirt24.bsky.social
It's absolutely a data error. It is not correct. And anyone who suggests otherwise needs to be told so.

The ball hit the wall on the fly. Just because you turned that into two different force outs doesn't change that.

I will never stop looking at this. A 404 foot GIDP. (This is correct, it is not a data error.)

Next time someone doubles off of the wall let's see what the PBP refers to it as. I will be you all of King Midas' Silver that it won't be labeled as "(Player) doubles on a ground ball"

I thought this game began at 6pm, not 5pm. Fortunately I was inside eating my first meal of the day (I am not a smart man dot gif) and saw that home run.

I knew two guys that had 'em in the late 90's/early 00's and they were still killing it.
