Attended the Anti-Hate protest opposing a Canada First rally this morning at the north end of Queen's Park. Missed the one at Christie Pits last month (I was out of town) and really wanted to make this one.
Saw my first Xmas and yesterday. At least they could wait till after Halloween.
I've got my shots scheduled for next week.
My friend Christine is a biochemist, and she was an early victim of the US science cuts, losing her research position in Boston. She's now gotten a position at U of Ottawa, researching using microbes to mine minerals. Good for her and this country.
Great day for a bike ride. It's the time of year when every long weekend ride might be my last until spring, as the weather might turn cold at any time.
This is really disappointing, Cycle Toronto was pushing hard for them to go ahead with the lanes. This is just giving up in the face of Ford.
Saw Bryan Adams Friday night (please excuse the crappy picture). He was in fine form, it was a great show.

"Hi, I'm Bryan. I'm going to perform as many songs as I can remember."
While there is certainly scope to criticize Trudeau, in his defense he did not unilaterally put troops into Quebec, they were requested by the mayor of Montreal and the Premier.
THE MAKING OF THE OCTOBER CRISIS is a fantastic book, highly recommended.
In one the wife of an astronaut was trained so she could keep house for the male astronauts on the Moonbase. In another an astronaut on the space station panics over the fact there is a single woman on board and strong arms her into marriage to "protect" her.
This was on YouTube a few years back. There were a number of quite good episodes. And then there were episodes dealing with women in space.
In her ward, and I'll see about voting for an actual progressive.
I got a book on WWI. My brother says Trinity is the best of the book sales.
Tis the season of the University of Toronto college book sales, at the Victoria College sale.
There's a lot of this in Canada too. The government of Ontario is running roughshod over the City of Toronto because legally it has all the power, but so many people I talk to about this just don't believe that, they keep saying City Council should just say no and blame Council for not doing so.
I was just in Quebec City a week ago, you'll love it. (You signed a book for me at the Lillian H Smith in Toronto BTW)
That film has a ridiculously stacked cast.
In Quebec City for the Grand Prix Cycle Race, 18 laps through the old city and the Plains of Abraham. Lots of big names here.
It would be nice if all those articles on Charlie Kirk would mention he was a racist and white supremacist instead of just saying he was a "free speech advocate".
The first real band I saw in person.

I've been reading The Economist for maybe 30 years now, and I've really disappointing that their flat-out gushing over "AI" and their total acceptance in everything the tech-bros promise. The editors constantly wonder what is holding industries back from total acceptance of it.
