Oh yeah. Especially in the Bush admin actually and specifically against Muslims.
I think they’re like two really bad weeks from it right now. We probably won’t get that lucky, but I don’t think there’s much bite in their vinegar
A lot of the strategists & pundits who think they’re strategists have developed a genuine resentment for the base of the party. They see the apparent alignment on the right as both replicable & desirable & they blame essentially anyone who doesn’t actively tack right for this perceived shortcoming
I assume this is because Bolsonaro and his dumb sons made a lot more of their relationship with Trump and his dumb sons, and a lot more publicly.
I obviously can’t change how you feel myself but I can say from personal experience that if you go volunteer once a month or so with your local Democratic county committee, you’ll probably feel much, much better about the party & your place in it
You can make the case that it was rushed and a lot of the characters suffered as a result, but that is absolutely the best ending for the overall themes and orientations of the story
I’m happy that the spirit literally never seems to die in kids. I’m sad that they need it. After the last 20 years and our own childhoods, to have ended up here is such an insane disappointment. Easy to forget that. But it’s great reminded that the future is always plastic
This is why a “sedevacantist” case after his term is up would be so funny. If you prove he was an insurrectionist & therefore his election was never legitimate, seems to me the effect would be to establish Vance as the true 47th president all along. Very funny to imagine Vance hearing that verdict
At the time I (and I think the studio too) took as just part of Fallout camp. Little did we know
This post is the final piece required to illuminate the fact that I’ve been looking at the shape of a discourse all day without realizing it. It’s not your fault. Either that the discourse happened or that your post clued me into it. But I nonetheless blame you
I’m gonna be honest: I love it, but only because when I look at it I see album covers and I just know the music would rip ass to the moon and back
and during a shutdown???
It’s not universal commitment yet, but Johnson is definitely among a group of them who is committed to breaking the constitution because they think they will win the settlement
My question for you: If I told you “Joe, your hair is too green. I can’t stand how green your hair is.” Maybe you think green hair is a big deal, maybe you don’t; but either way, you don’t have green hair.

So how would you even begin to address my concern? Be specific
Lotta of these people needed something to get the taste of regret out of their mouths from last November and way, way overcommitted to this dude. He could be the nicest dude in the world and that wouldn’t make him a good candidate to beat Collins, let alone a good senator himself
My hypothesis is that it’s always mostly about identity construction, but in some periods, political identity construction is achieved by the aim of improving material circumstances. In other periods, it’s something else. When it’s something else (now), you get greater dysfunction & a surging right
It *could* turn out bad, but it’s a necessary precondition of *anything* turning out good. They’re getting pushback of a kind they’ve never really seen from people they’ve never really heard it from. It’s like what they’ve come expect from progressives, but from they’re actual primary base
This just opened an entire suite of metrics based on sports. I’m sure someone’s done this before but it’s my personal guarantee that none of them have done it as thoroughly as I will. It’s over after this
There’s a weird coalition of what amounts to know-nothings of the left and focus group-addicted centrists coalescing on some of the dumbest takes of the moment. The idea that “no one cares” about the rapid, illegal destruction of the White House is definitely the most obviously wrong
Oh so when it’s a dog it’s a problem
WHOSE VOICE BITES THE COLD BREEZE? WHOSE MIGHTY STEP SHAKES THE SEED CORN FROM THE STALK? WHOSE GALLOPING HERDS LEND THE SKY ITS THUNDER?

THE KHAN
THE KHAN
THE KHAN
Starting a little capital flight might not be the worst thing
They’re speedrunning Very Slowly and now almost to All At Once
This is like people who post shit like “the constitution is no longer in effect.” I know what you mean, but that’s not true. It is in effect, but it’s being intentionally poorly enforced by a criminal government.

If it’s actually no longer in effect, there’s no mechanism for accountability
This was my introduction to the conspiracy theory that the US population is actually massively understated. There really is no pinning them down on a fact they’re determined not to learn
